NN:

A healthy morning ritual that you follow?

KI:

I always make sure I eat breakfast, and then love to check in with the BBG community to see what they have been up to. I always feel inspired and motivated by all the hard work the BBG girls are doing around the world.

NN:

One word that defines you?

KI:

Habitual. Healthy habits are a big part of my lifestyle, whether it is eating healthily, working out or getting enough sleep. I’m a big believer that motivation takes you only so far and that habits are important to take you the rest of the way. My book, The Bikini Body Motivation & Habits Guide goes into this in much more detail but basically building habits around exercise and healthy eating can help you reach your goals much easier.

NN:

Your first experience of working out at a gym?

KI:

I found it a little overwhelming, to be honest. That’s why there is such a huge focus on education with my BBG programs in the Sweat app. I want women to be able to step into the gym feeling confident, knowing how to do exercises safely with correct form.

NN:

What are your top 3 exercises to tone arms?

KI:

As with any fitness goal, there isn’t one particular exercise or training style that works best. It’s all about having a routine that you do consistently and that is part of an overall fitness plan. Some of the exercises I use regularly are push-ups, tricep dips and a bicep curl with an added shoulder press.

NN:

Favorite celebrity that you have trained?

KI:

I have honestly loved training every single one of my clients, both celebrity and non-celebrity, so I can’t pick just one. Each person is different and is on their own journey, and it is a wonderful feeling to be able to help them on their path.

NN:

What makes up your breakfast?

KI:

Generally I have two slices of toast with some egg, then I might change up the toppings a little. Some days I might have greens, like kale or spinach. Other days I might have some home grown tomatoes and olives with a little drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

NN:

What do you eat before and after a workout?

KI:

I workout in the afternoon after I have trained my clients and filmed content for my social channels, so I eat lunch at least 30-60 minutes before I start my session. One of my favourite things to eat for lunch is a homemade chicken yiros – a wholemeal wrap with chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and homemade tzatziki, made with cucumber, greek yogurt, garlic and olive oil.

After I workout I have a snack to help restore my energy levels and rebuild muscle I have worked on during training. Some of my go-to’s are tuna on whole grain crackers, and a banana smoothie with natural peanut butter and cacao.

NN:

Favorite meal of the day?

KI:

I always enjoy having dinner with Tobi, my fiance, because we take the time to talk about our day. Dinner for us is usually something simple, like vegetables, rice and either some grilled chicken or salmon.

NN:

What do you like to snack on?

KI:

Fresh fruit is one of my favourite snacks but I also love to have some Greek yoghurt with it. The yoghurt provides some protein to help keep my energy up.

NN:

What inspired you to become a Sweat trainer?

KI:

My goal has always been to help women around the world to become healthier, stronger and fitter. As a Sweat trainer, I love being a part of a business dedicated to the health and wellbeing of women, and one that is committed to listening to the feedback of our users. I think that is really important.

NN:

You often talk about how you don’t drink alcohol. Why is this?

KI:

As well as not liking the taste of alcohol, I found that it was really hard to live the active lifestyle I wanted if I felt unwell from drinking. As a professional in the health and fitness industry, I don’t promote the consumption of alcohol but I also want women to make their own informed choices when it comes to their health.

NN:

Drinks you opt for to stay hydrated?

KI:

I always drink water, staying hydrated has so many great benefits for your body. Sometimes I might add some slices of lemon or cucumber and mint to my water for a little extra flavour. I also enjoy having a herbal tea like peppermint or chamomile to start the day, instead of coffee.

NN:

Your ideal workout would include?

KI:

For me, my BBG Stronger workouts are the perfect mixture of weight training and bodyweight exercises. My resistance workouts include compound exercises, which requires multiple muscle groups, so they are highly efficient even though they are only 28-minutes long.

NN:

Your gym bag essentials would be?

KI:

I keep it really simple, so usually just a hair brush, my Sweat gym towel, my Sweat water bottle and some facial cleansing wipes. I also always have my Apple watch with me because I can use the Sweat app and do a workout from my wrist.

NN:

Social media has been instrumental in your growth. What is the best part about it?

KI:

That I can connect with, support and educate women all over the world. It is amazing to be able to chat with the BBG community on the other side of the world.

NN:

Biggest fitness/weight loss myth that needs to be busted?

KI:

Spot reduction. There is no quick-fix or easy solution to weight loss, and that applies to many fitness goals. Success comes from having a consistent routine. Once you make health and fitness a part of your lifestyle, you will notice a difference both mentally and physically.

NN:

Athleisure brands that you love?

KI:

I love workout clothes that are supportive and comfortable, above all else. Some of the brands that I am wearing at the moment are P.E. Nation, PUMA, Alo Yoga and Nike.

NN:

Tips to become body confident?

KI:

When you feel good on the inside, I think it really shows on the outside. You gain self confidence from your ability to accomplish things, like finishing a workout that you couldn’t finish two weeks ago. I also think it is so important to think positively about yourself too; don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone’s journey is different.

NN:

Any resolutions or goals for 2018?

KI:

To continue developing new content for my BBG girls. I’ve just recently released BBG Stronger 3.0 and BBG 7.0, which means there are now more workouts for both programs in the Sweat app. Each workout also has warm-ups and trainer audio to go with it, so you can hear me giving you cues when to move to the next exercise. It’s like working out with me beside you as your trainer.

NN:

Message for your 10 million followers on Instagram?

KI:

Don’t underestimate yourself. Remember that strength comes from within — if you feel good on the inside and do things that help you to feel self-confident, that will show on the outside.
