Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tipped to become the world’s greatest ever female athlete; you can already lay claim to being the country’s greatest ever Pentathlete, High Jumper and Long Jumper after holding national records in each of these events. Looking back at the incredible journey that you have had, how does it feel?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
Yeah it makes me feel really good that I can be at a high level in a number of different events but there’s hopefully more to come.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
When did you decide that you wanted to take your passion for the sport forward and take it up professionally?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
After I qualified for my home Olympics (London 2012) at the age of 19. I decided that I wanted to fully focus on being the best athlete I could be and train full time.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
With the extensive energy required for the sport you have to keep up your fitness levels too. What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
I have to compete in a number of different events so I split my training up. There’s technical training, strength and power training (mainly gym) and running (obviously) so a fair amount of aerobic and lactic work.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take any special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
I don’t have a special diet but I try to stick to commons sense. Make sure I get in some good quality protein such as SiS Whey20 straight after a workout for example. My New Year’s resolution is to make sure I always eat foods that are going to benefit my body and add to my training instead of foods that just hit my taste buds….and to stretch more.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Considered the 9th most marketable sportsperson on the planet, labelled as ‘the future of athletics’ and with a natural flair both on and off track, you are considered to be the world’s next global sporting icon. How does that make you feel?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
Fabulous haha. I don’t think about this but it’s nice to have positive things being said about you.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are rated amongst the Most Fit Female Athletes of 2017 by Sports Illustrated. What are your five favorite workout routines to stay fit?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
The rower is a quick and easy way to get a tough session over and done with. Try 3x500m in under 2 minutes with 3 minutes rest. Hills are my go to and the session I always love. Obviously track sessions are my specialty. Depends on what your goal is as to what session it is to do but it usually involves high-intensity and short recovery.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tell us about your preparation for the future Championships.
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
I moved to France last year so am now based there full time. I train 6 days a week, some days doing double sessions and am really enjoying it.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Who has been your greatest inspiration and motivator in your success in the field of your career?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
Definitely my mum, I always want to do well for her and make her proud.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
While playing professional sports, athletes often face injuries and other difficulties, would you like to tell the audience about how to cope up and make a comeback after an injury?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
A quote that I think of during any bad time is “you’re thinking about where you are, instead of where you’re going.” I think that helps me focus on the future and what I’m going to do to grow & improve from the situation I’m currently in instead of dwelling on it.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words to our inspiring and budding female athletes who all are your fans, what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in this field?
Ms. Katarina Johnson-Thompson:
Try everything! Do what you enjoy, and when you find something you love, never do it with half effort – give it your all!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
