Kailani Craine started her competitive career from her first competition which was held at the local rink (the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium) in Newcastle, NSW Australia. After a few competitions at home, she began to travel to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to compete and later to prestigious events across Europe, Asia, and North America including the Olympic Games.
She lives in Newcastle, NSW Australia and train for six days a week at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. She also trains at the Toyota Centre in El Segundo, California USA.
She is the 2017 CS Nebelhorn Trophy champion, the 2016 CS Warsaw Cup silver medalist, the 2015 Toruń Cup silver medalist, and a six-time Australian national champion (2014–2019). She has competed in the final segment at eight ISU Championships and competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up with an exceptionally talented Kailani Craine, Australian figure skater, she is 12 times Australian national champion and 2018 Winter Olympian, here she talks about her workout, diet, beauty secrets and success story.
Namita Nayyar:
You are the 12X Australian National Figure Skating Champion. Walk us through your spectacular journey and share what appeals to you most about the sport?
Kailani Craine:
I’m incredibly lucky to be able to do what I do, I feel like the most special thing about my sport is that it really is so athletic, but we have to make it look graceful and easy! When I started skating it really wasn’t to be competitive, it was just for fun because I enjoyed it a lot- and now here we are!
One thing led to another and I would always work on a new jump or spin and then work towards harder and harder competitions until I realised that competing at the 2018 Olympics would be my goal.
