Julia Faye West is an exceptionally talented actress, producer and a model. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You were born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You began your acting classes for stage artists in preschool and kindergarten. Throughout your childhood and adolescence, you participated in plays and Improv ComedySportz on stage. You took private coaching with instructor’s from The Milwaukee Performing Arts Center. Later you amassed a number of television credits including The Disney series “Even Stevens” as ‘Gwendalyn’. Later your determination and tenacity in acting propelled your professional career to the height where you have been at the top of the world of acting and glamour. Tell us about your journey that took you to where you are now in the world of acting and modeling?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
My first decade of life was experienced in the mid-west and through the mid-nineties. Things were a lot different back then. I had a very old school hands-on approach to acting and modeling during my youngest years of education. It wasn’t until my early teens that things began to turn for me. Prior to my extensive use of technology and the internet, I enjoyed the stage. Because we cannot edit, rewind or rely on current forms of computer graphics, our work had to be flawless the first time we performed in front of our viewers. Because of this I feel that I was trained to practice and work harder. It makes most of my acting and modeling work feel like a breeze these last ten years!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
People often say they don’t have time to workout. Why not do sit-ups or leg lifts before leaving the bedroom in the morning? How about lunges while walking from one room to the next? Eighty percent of fitness is about calorie intake. I’m so busy I can’t always make it to the gym, I have an elliptical machine setup where I can do 30 to 60 minutes of cardio while watching the news first thing in the morning. I stay disciplined sometimes by telling myself for example, that I cannot check my cell phone, until I am on the elliptical machine.
If you do not have the luxury of time for the gym, incorporate exercise in your daily routines. Whenever you have time off, it’s wonderful for our body mind and spirit to get some fresh air outdoors. I love to hike with my dogs and with friends. It’s a fun adventure to bike ride with your family. There are plenty of ways to become active with significant others in your life.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
I drink a lot of water. I never weigh myself. People have many reasons why their weight might fluctuate a few times each month, I go by how my clothing fits me to determine the strictness of my regimen. I try to make sure that I’m never too hungry or too full. I’m at my best when I stick to vegetables and fish as my staple foods. I eat berries and plain yogurt, health oils and fats like those from coconuts, avocados, olives and nuts. I’ll always have a day here or there when I veer from my normal habits and indulge in comfort foods like chocolate and french fries. I consider these to be my “free days”. It’s best not to have more than 1 “free day” per week.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
Glowing skin comes from within. I drink a lot of water throughout the day and use raw coconut oil for cooking and as a butter substitute. Not only do I ingest coconut oil, I use it as a moisturizer. I always make sure my skin is hydrated and moisturized. I make sure to exfoliate at least one a week to keep my skin fresh and to prevent fine wrinkles. I also stay out of the sun, and if I am in the sun I wear plenty of sun block to prevent sun damage. I have naturally dry skin, so I’m always experimenting with new moisturizing products. My skin is sensitive as well, so organic makeup with SPF and natural ingredients work best on my face and decollete.
The best products out there for your hair are Kevin Murphy. I use “young again” shampoo, conditioner, and conditioning mask. I love Kevin Murphy because it is skin care technology, so the molecule is small enough to penetrate into the cuticle of the hair. Most very well known and expensive products out there, only sit on the outside of your hair.
Another myth is that there are products that can fix split ends. The only thing that gets rid of split ends is a hair cut (a trim). I recommend a trim for women every 8 weeks. Every 4 weeks I see my stylist Olivier Santamaria for special treatments. He works at Slash, my favorite Santa Monica salon!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are leading media personality, model, producer and film & television actress. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
I always have this sense of urgency to accomplish things and to instill positive change. The more I utilize my person skills and talents, the more motivated I am to remain driven and move things forward.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tell us more about your endeavor working as a lead in an upcoming parody spoof film “A Week in London” where you play the character ‘London.’?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
A week in London, follows a heiress’ quest to show the world she isn’t just another “it” girl and pretentious celebutante. After a rise to worldwide notoriety, London suffers a serious head injury and experiences a reawakening. The following week she allows a BBC documentary crew to follow her to show a more serious side. The irony is that the serious side is hysterical. This is the most exciting film I have worked on to date. I’m honored to play the lead character Ms. London Logo, and share the spotlight with several of my favorite celebrities. This phenomenal film will be released in the Spring of 2016.

Who has been your inspiration and motivation that led you to your success in the world of acting and modeling?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
My role models are those who are brave enough to follow the beat of their own drum, and to be a team player simultaneously. These are the few who open doors and allow the masses to pass through.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have actively participated as an executive director of various charity foundations to ease human and animal suffering. These association are dear to your heart, tell us how you have been able to achieve and quench your thirst of giving back to the society through such endeavor of your’s?
Ms. Julia Faye West:
Happiness is best experienced when shared. Everyday that I wake up feeling physical health, is a day to share my appreciation for all this world has to offer. When I’m able to make a difference in the well being of others I feel the most rewarding fulfillment. Being able to give is the greatest gift of all.
