Stunning Actress Jessica McNamee On Living Her Hollywood Dream!

jessica McNamee is an Australian actress who rose to fame playing roles in the Seven Network television programmes Home and Away and Packed to the Rafters.

Jessica will soon be seen starring opposite Dax Shepard, Michael Pena, and Kristen Bell in CHIPS, an action comedy film directed and written by Dax Shepard, based on the 1970s television series of the same name created by Rick Rosner out MARCH 15, 2017. Jessica plays “Lindsay Taylor” described as a stunning yet tough young California Highway Patrol officer who takes quite a shine to Ponch (Michael Pena) and vice versa.

Jessica has been featured several times in INSTYLE Australia, ALLURE, INSTYLE COSMO among others.

Jessica will also star in THE BATTLE OF THE SEXES opposite Emma Stone and Steve Carrel based on Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. Jessica will star as famous tennis player Margaret Court who is the one of the #1 tennis players in history, lost a heavily publicised and US–televised challenge match to a former World No. 1 male tennis player, the 55-year-old Bobby Riggs (played by Steve Carell), on 13 May 1973, in Ramona, California. Court was the top-ranked women’s player at the time, and it has been reported that she did not take the match seriously because it was a mere exhibition.

Lets get to know some health & fitness secrets from Actress Jessica McNamee as she catches up with Namita Nayyar, President Women Fitness on the eve of International Women’s Day.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You began your career playing roles in the Seven Network television programmes Home and Away and Packed to the Rafters, which propelled your career in acting to the height of success. Then, you gave a fantastic performance in the USA Network TV series Sirens. Walk us through your spectacular journey and tell us how it all began?

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

I grew up doing musical theatre from a young age. That is where it all began. I was encouraged by a teacher in my final year of high school to consider acting as a professional career, so I deferred University and started camera acting classes. I was really lucky to book my first acting job in Australia not long after that. Then it all really snowballed. Home and Away and Packed the Rafters shortly followed and next thing I knew I was 4 years into a career as an actress. It was a crazy ride.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Introduce us to a day in your life.

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

Regardless of if I am working or not I always make sure to get up early and start the day off with some form of exercise. Usually a hike with my dog or yoga. If I am on set it is usually a long day of back and forth between your trailer, costume changes, trying to avoid the pastries at craft services, and some acting in there too. If I have the day off then going to the movies, lunch with friends, studying (I am completing a university degree online). I try to structure my Monday to Friday as a“work week” even when I have time off, be that writing, getting in shape, working on accents, reading scripts etc. Otherwise I could easily waste a week watching Netflix.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

I try to exercise once a day. I do reformer Pilates about twice a week and like I said I love to hike with my dog most mornings. Yoga has always been a huge part of my life. I am actually still yet to find a yoga studio in LA that I love as much as Power Living yoga, in Australia. I am always on the hunt. I just spent 6 weeks back in Bondi over Christmas and practiced yoga every morning. Any exercise that integrates mind and body are what I am generally drawn to. In saying that, I love to try new things. In fact I am going to my friends kick boxing class in a few hours.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

I am generally fairly healthy. My diet consists of low carb, high fibre. I eat a lot of salad and vegetables. For protein I eat fish and eggs. I am taking a break from red meat for now both from a health and also ethical standpoint. I don’t have a sweet tooth which is a godsend! I do however have a crazy savory tooth. I could eat pastries and cheese for life. I let myself indulge in those things every now and again. Oh and wine. Love. Wine.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your haircare and skincare routine.

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

Thank you! For my skin I try to get a facial about once a month. Usually an oxygen facial and a laser Genesis facial. At home I use Indian Healing Clay mask about once a week. I am obsessed with it. Also, drink lots of water. Besides that nothing too fancy. I moisture a lot. I try to use a lot of all natural products. Oh, and Hot yoga always makes my skin glow too. For hair I do coconut oil masks. As well as adding coconut oil to smoothies. Makes my hair super shiny. Besides that I try not to wash it too much as that is very drying. My hair changes color every role, so it can tend to be dry. I avoid heat appliances as much as possible to help with this.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have appeared in several top magazines like INSTYLE Australia, ALLURE, INSTYLE COSMO, what are your 5 Tips to do an amazing photoshoot?

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

Oh gosh. I like to make sure my skin is in good shape (so the above). I tend to drink lots of water and cut out alcohol and coffee before a shoot. Also up my exercise. It is all about feeling confident in your own skin, so I make sure I am feeling as healthy and fit as possible. I try to just have fun and not take myself too seriously. It is good fun at the end of the day!

In 2012, you went on to secure a role in the film The Vow, alongside Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, how would you like to describe that experience?

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

It was definitely the most exciting moment of my career, and a turning point I guess. Before that I was working on a TV show in Australia. It was always the dream to come and shoot a Hollywood movie, that is what we all used to fantasize about. But for it to come to fruition was unbelievable. It was a true pinch me moment. I was a huge fan of Rachel and Chan too, so it made it all the more exciting. I booked it off tape in Australia, so I hadn’t met anyone involved. I got flown to Toronto and throw on set with everyone. It was like I was in a dream.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You will star opposite Dax Shepard, Michael Pena and Kristen Bell in CHIPS, an action comedy film directed and written by Dax Shepard, which will be out on March 15, 2017. Share with us your experience doing this movie.

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

Pure fun. I had the best time on set of this film. Dax and Kristen love working with their friends so a bunch of their best buddies were cast in Chips. I was one of the few that had no connection to their gang. So essentially it was like being brought into a ridiculously funny new group of friends. We all still see each other and stay in touch. The film itself is so raunchy and funny that it was hard not to have fun.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You recently wrapped doing the action film MEG opposite Jason Stratham for Warner Bros, where you did a lot of water activities. We would like to know about an unforgettable moment that you’ve had on the sets and how did you prepare for the role?

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

We shot this film in New Zealand, so I actually went down there 3 weeks before shooting to begin training. We spent a lot of time in the water while shooting, so we trained every day in the water. It ranged from beginners stuff like blowing bubbles to swimming laps and time trials, and then advanced to deep water diving with weights and platform jumping and diving. I had an absolute blast. I ended up holding my breathe for about 3 mins underwater. That was by far my most impressive achievement. I play a Sub pilot in the film, so I had to spend a lot of time in out submersible learning to operate it and figure out all the controls. Most of the stuff you’ll see is us operating the machine. It was pretty cool. I would say my first day in costume, after weeks of training and fittings and finally ’driving’ that sub was by far the most memorable.

Advice and motivational words for the inspiring and budding actresses, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of entertainment?

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

Follow your gut and trust in yourself, no matter what anyone tells you. That is my motto. I have had opportunities to take on roles that didn’t challenge me or inspire me. I have had people try and talk me into doing jobs that I didn’t want to do and try to talk me out of being an actress all together. I scrapped listening to anyone else about 6 years ago. It has been a hustle, but I always trusted myself and knew who I was and what I was capable of, and thank goodness, it all seems to be working out now. It also helps to have an awesome team on your side.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You are also going to star in The Battle Of The Sexes opposite Emma Stone and Steve Carrel, where you will portray the famous tennis player Margaret Court. Tell us more about this endeavor of yours?

Ms. Jessica McNamee:

What an opportunity this was! Margaret Court is such an icon in Australia so of course I jumped at the opportunity. It is the first time I have played an Australian since working in the USA too, which was nice. I got to keep my accent. It was really transformative for me. I am unrecognizable with a dark tan and short wig. I loved that aspect of it. I also had two months of tennis training in the lead up to shooting. I love tennis but have never been an amazing player so to get paid to learn and become better at playing was a real silver lining of booking this job. Steve and Emma were an absolute delight. I just saw some of the footage doing adr last week, and I have to say, I got quite emotional watching it because it was so overwhelming to be on screen with two such heavy weights of the industry. I can’t wait to see the film.
