Namita Nayyar:
You grew up in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area of Pennsylvania. You have been interested in fitness and sports from an early age of 12 years. Later you were encouraged & motivated to compete in fitness competitions. You reached the pinnacle of success by winning at the 2007 NPC San Jose Fitness (Class B), 1st place at 2015 Subfighter No Gi Summer Challenge and many more. Tell us about your journey that took you to the world of fitness and as a winner in Professional Bikini Pro competitions?
Jennifer Dietrick:
I absolutely loved gymnastics when I was a kid and looked forward to practice every day. When I graduated from high school, I still had that drive to compete. I then discovered fitness competitions and began to work on my physique. When Figure and Bikini shows began, the number of Fitness competitors decreased dramatically. Also, I felt that the physique round was too much muscle for my frame in Figure and Fitness. I was encouraged to try Bikini, and it wasn’t long before I received my pro card. I loved competing and would enter 4-6 show in a year. I stayed close to contest shape year round which allowed me to compete often. I earned a place in the top five at the Dallas Europa Show.
I recently have solely been competing in jiu jitsu tournaments, since training for a skill is more challenging and fun for me. I still compete enjoy competing often as I have done anywhere form 4-8 tournaments in a year since I’ve started.
Namita Nayyar:
How has your educational background of Bachelor of Science in Education for Biology, Bloomsburg University – Cum Laude, ACE Certified Health Coach – NCAA Accredited Certification and ACE Certified Personal Trainer – NCAA Accredited Certification has been a catalyst in becoming a successful fitness expert?
Jennifer Dietrick:
They all have been a major factor in contributing towards my expertise, along with my own personal experience in training and competing. I taught high school for 7 years, and 4 of them included teaching Anatomy & Physiology which covers all aspects of the human body in great detail. It allows me to pass along knowledge to my clients about their overall health and not only exercise. My degree also provides much more detail about nutrition and how it used in the body for optimal health. I continually take continuing education credits to be of the best service possible to my clients. I’m currently studying for a new certification in Orthopedic Exercise. I also practice what I preach to be an accurate role model in the fitness industry and to my clients.

Namita Nayyar:
What is your motivation to take a multi-faceted personality of a fitness model, professional bikini competitor, personal trainer, martial artist and a nutritional expert?
Jennifer Dietrick:
I enjoy being continuously challenged, so I prefer a variety of avenues in the fitness industry. I strive to improve and maintain my health and fitness, be of service to my clients to aid them in their goals, and train martial arts to inspire others. I’m currently writing a book about the mental aspect of achieving the desired health and fitness for each individual. I believe all facets have worked together to help me grow in all areas and be a true fitness role model.
Namita Nayyar:
Share your exercise routine that you do to maintain such a bikini perfect physique?
Jennifer Dietrick:
I do want to clarify that I formerly trained with weights and plyometrics 6 days a week to build my physique to get it to the form it is now. With that foundation, I currently train to refine my physique and improve my jiu jitsu performance. My current training regimen has been jiu jitsu classes, lessons, and drills along with weight training and conditioning. On the days outside of jiu jitsu, I complete a strength and conditioning day which includes exercises to help my strength and endurance in jiu jitsu.
At the same time, it’s a great high intensity workout to keep myself lean and fit. I usually do upper and lower body plyometrics mixed with core training. I normally complete 3 rounds of 9-12 exercises for 30 seconds to one minute each. I move from one exercise to the next without any breaks. I alternate between exercises that involve a lot of cardio and ones that don’t require much since they are continuous. One of the other days, I train legs with a high volume of exercises usually comprising of supersets. The remaining day I train back with plyometrics and/or abs in between sets. This regimen covers all my body parts in the week to keep me balanced. I add the plyometrics to keep the intensity high throughout the workout. I do flexibility work at the end of my training sessions and add extra time if my schedule allows.
Namita Nayyar:
What is your diet? Do you take a particular fixed regulated diet comprising of nutrients and vitamins to keep you in perfect health?
Jennifer Dietrick:
My nutrition is composed mainly of eggs, oats, fruit, coconut oil, avocado, tomatoes, olive oil, chicken breast, fish, gluten free bread, greens, yams, red potatoes, and brown rice. I currently do not take in a fixed amount although I have in the past when getting ready for shows. I listen to how my body feels and eat accordingly. I supplement my nutrition with vitamins, minerals, fish oils, protein powder, HMB, and BetaTOR. Both the supplements and nutrition play a major factor in my physique and health.
Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make it look so stunning?
Jennifer Dietrick:
Eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, regular exercise, and getting the proper amount of sleep contributes to my skin and hair health. The skin care regimen I follow includes sleeping with a humidifier, exfoliating a few times a week, wearing SPF 30 on a daily basis, and occasionally getting a facial. As for my hair, I limit the amount of heat damage by allowing my hair to air dry most of the time and use a deep conditioning treatments on occasion. I get regular color treatments and cuts to keep it looking fresh and healthy.
Namita Nayyar:
Fitness modelling is about bold photo shoots. You have done photo shoots and showed your spectacular chiseled physique. What advice you wish to give to the women of today to be body confident in order to do such bold modeling?
Jennifer Dietrick:
Train and eat to feel good and be healthy and your physique will improve easily. Be consistent, yet not obsessive. When you feel good, you automatically feel better about how you look as well. Be comfortable with yourself, your body, and find a photographer you feel comfortable around when doing a photo shoot.
Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding professional Bikini competitor girls who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to ladder of success in field of professional Bikini competitions?
Jennifer Dietrick:
Be passionate about your goals, always push your limits in training, have a good work ethic, enjoy the journey, only strive to be better than you were yesterday, and be positive throughout the process. You are competing because you love it and you are only ever competing with yourself!
Namita Nayyar:
Tell us how you felt before and after winning the 1st place at 2015 Subfighter No Gi Women’s Tournament?
Jennifer Dietrick:
That tournament was when I felt the most comfortable with competing in jiu jitsu. In past tournaments, I sometimes didn’t feel completely present since I was too nervous. I also would sometimes not breathe properly which would obviously effect my performance. I’ve had tournaments where I won, but was unhappy with my performance because I knew I wasn’t at my best. I’ve also had the opposite happen as well. I’m pleased with my performance, if I’m at my best whether I win or lose. I enjoy competing a lot because I love it, but it also helps me get more practice at controlling my nerves. I already had 3 or 4 tournaments under my belt that year and had been using meditative practices about my performance to improve it.
Before the tournament started, I had the usual nerves yet it wasn’t as intense and I was able to fully focus. I felt completely present and performed at the best of my ability in each match. Afterwards, I felt very happy with the results of my matches, not just because I won, but because I knew I was operating at my best.
Namita Nayyar:
Tell us about a memorable experience you still remember about one of the fitness competitions that you wish to share?
Jennifer Dietrick:
When I competed at a national level show in Chicago, I mainly remember another competitor’s routine and the crowd’s response. I’m happy to say that all of my shows have run smooth for me. Many times you hear people talking about tripping in the heels or something going wrong with the music during the routine. This competitor went on stage to start her routine and there was a malfunction with the music. Everyone was looking around wondering what she was going to do. Then she just started performing her routine without any music. It was a very upbeat, fast type of dance and the crowd began to clap with it. She received a huge roar from the crowd and standing ovation at the end of her routine. I love the emotional response to these sporting moments, and love that she didn’t let the malfunction affect her performance.
Namita Nayyar:
