Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have an extensive client base for whom you custom tailor clothes. Tell us about an interesting experience with a client you still remember?
Ms. Jasmine Chen: I remember most if not all of my clients. They are all fantastic. Most of them are very creative who come in with ideas and even photos of what they would like to make. Everyone is different which is the beauty of the business. Everything is custom and one of a kind. I think that every one of my clients is one of a kind and they are looking for that wardrobe that is different from what is out there in retail. They want to be different, yet look and feel amazing.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?
Ms. Jasmine Chen: Currently, I am focusing on my core and cardio. I want to have a strong core that defines my shape and keeps me toned. I take core-focused classes such as barre that work out the right areas of my body without building excess muscle, which helps me stay lean. To switch things up, I like light cardio few times a week to keep my heart rate up and staying fit.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have deep focus towards Power Yoga and Pilates. Elaborate on your perception about these two concepts of workouts you practice and follow?
Ms. Jasmine Chen: After an intense workout, you always need to stretch. I don’t think the average person stretches enough before nor after their workouts. So to solve that issue, I like to force myself to take a yoga class to stretch my muscles. This step is very important because this helps blood flow, flexibility, and most importantly elongate your muscles. “You must first strengthen then lengthen your muscles”. I personally love power yoga since it is a faster pace of regular form of yoga.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Jasmine Chen: I love food and I find myself constantly eating all day. Because I snack about every 2 hours, I don’t believe in having an actual big meal during mealtime. I believe there is a balance in everything, so I eat almost everything but at a limited amount and frequency. I do try to limit to carbs once a day. one of my favorite things is a juicing. I love fresh juices, especially after a workout. I am not a drinker, so I almost never drink any alcohol. Liquor doesn’t make me feel great. When I do drink, I always think about how hard I workout and why I am doing this to my body?!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hairs. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hairs to make them look so stunning?
Ms. Jasmine Chen: My friend Maria introduced me to a particular type of coconut oil and I have been obsessed with it since! I eat the coconut oil in my oatmeal in the morning. I also use it on my skin as well. It makes my skin feel amazing and soft. As for my hair, I have always had very silky, smooth, full head of hair naturally. I think that my diet is what really supports my hair growth and keeping it healthy. I also use hair products that contain coconut butter, which softens my hair after the shower.
