Ms. Namita Nayyar: Your acted in the role of Aggie Thackery in the Australian series “Out There” from 2003 to 2004. Tell us about this experience of yours?
Ms. Jade Louise Ewen: Wow, okay so when I was offered the series ‘Out There’ I was only 14 and it was the first time I had EVER been on a plane, and this was one that went all the way to Australia ha ha! It was amazing and I lived there for 4 months, what an experience.
The following year I was asked to come back to make a second series and this time my whole family came with me! We had Christmas there and enjoyed the beautiful beaches of Sydney. It was the first time I was able to share the rewards of my work with my loved ones, and I was basically just a kid still. The whole experience was unbelievable. Even thinking about it now gives me butterflies.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Who has been your inspiration and motivation that led you to your success in the world of singing?
Ms. Jade Louise Ewen: There are so many! I am influenced vocally by a lot of people: Whitney Houston, Tina Turner and Celine Dione mainly. These guys are the real deal! I also love Prince (I got to see him live recently in London – WOW WOW WOW!), and Queen and Stevie Wonder.
Generally speaking I am inspired by all round-performers and entertainers and those have a close connection to theatre so I have always loved the idea of putting on a real show! You only need to see Beyonce or Pink to see the kind of shows they put on… it’s so inspiring.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: In 2014 you played the supporting role of Clara in the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Porgy and Bess.Tell us about this endeavor of yours?
Ms. Jade Louise Ewen: Well, this project was a wonderful opportunity and one of which I am so grateful. The story of Porgy and Bess is world famous, but to then hear it was at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre with Timothy Sheader directing, I was SO excited when my agent called saying they wanted to meet me for it. I actually self-taped originally as I was away working on another production and couldn’t make it to London. I then went back in a few times and they really worked me in the audition room, I felt this huge sense of determination to prove myself and hey, it paid off and they offered me the job. I had the best time on this show, everybody was a real joy to work with and I learnt so much from all involved. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer team of people! I won’t lie, I cried on the last show. We only worked together a short amount of time but I made friends for life on that show.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are a leading singer, songwriter, actress in television, theater artist and model. How you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Jade Louise Ewen: Honestly, I hate to be bored and I am always looking for new projects. I really enjoy being busy and experiencing new things. It doesn’t feel like work to me. I am very lucky in that respect.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?
Ms. Jade Louise Ewen: I think it’s fab! I really do. It’s aimed at ALL women and that to me is a huge YES.
