Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are an internationally published fashion model and an exceptionally talented makeup artist. Tell us about your modelling journey and how it all began?
Ms. Jade Hill: Thank you Namita. I started off from a very young age doing pageant modelling & then one day whilst at a pageant one of the judges whom happened to be a model herself introduced me to her agency. I grew within the industry and when I felt my book was strong enough I joined ICE Model Management Johannesburg who have become my family.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Introduce us to your schedule. How is a day like in the life of ‘Jade Hill’?
Ms. Jade Hill: My typical day starts off with waking up and going to Pilates. If I am not on a shoot that day I then head off to the office where I am employed as a human resources manager. After work I sometimes go to boxing otherwise I go home, cook a nice meal and spend quality time with my family and animals.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are a world leading Media Personality, Fashion Model and Makeup Artist. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Jade Hill: It’s quite simple and easy when you enjoy what you do. If you love what you do, it feels as though it’s as easy as taking a single breathe. When it gets tough, I take deep breathes and persevere as even those that love what they do have challenging days.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?
Ms. Jade Hill: I do one-on-one boxing with a boxing coach. I do Pilates and every now and then I run. In summer I cycle, and in winter my discipline in sleep is fantastic! Ha-ha.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Jade Hill: I do eat healthy. I try not think of it as a diet and more as a lifestyle as it’s easier to stick to. I eat a balanced diet that contains proteins, good fats and carbohydrates and plenty vegetables and fruit. I drink up to 3L of water a day and I don’t drink sugar or carbonated drinks. I am only human and I do get cravings especially for chocolate. I eat healthy during the week and I will reward myself with a cheat meal on the weekend.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make it look so stunning?
Ms. Jade Hill: I do follow a strict regime with both. Anyone who knows me or has worked with me on shoots will know that I can be strict with how my hair is handled. I do a lot of in-salon treatments for my hair, I use good professional products and try not to add heat to my hair when I’m not shooting. With regards to my skin I cleanse, tone and moisturize twice a day. I exfoliate twice a week as well as go for facials once a month or every two months. I don’t wear makeup on the days that I am not shooting to allow my skin to breathe.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have to travel a lot for your professional career. For a model adjusting to new countries with their own cultures it must be difficult and then to adjust with the modelling career in a new foreign land. What is the one best and the one worst thing about all the travelling that you get to do?
Ms. Jade Hill: The worst thing about traveling is I miss my animals and my family. As I am fortunate enough to be put up in hotels for bookings, I struggle with not being able to experiment with the different and new foods of the country I am in, as I love cooking.
The best thing, you get to experience things most people have never experienced in their lives, you meet new people and make new friendships and you get to see the world .
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Share with us your Top 3 Fashion Must-Haves?
Ms. Jade Hill: I think every woman should own a little black dress (LBD). It’s simple yet looks glamorous and feminine.
A nude strapless bra. This is good for under sheer clothing, white clothing and strapless clothing such a dresses. This to me is the black blazer of bras.
A great pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from glare and to add glamour to your total look.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your current Top 5 Beauty Products that you absolutely love?
Ms. Jade Hill: 1. My absolute favourite would be MAC strobe cream. It gives you the ultimate glow and highlight without having to wear makeup.
2. I never leave the house without my lip conditioner from MAC, but any lip conditioner will do the trick.
3. A neutral lipstick just to add some colour and glamour. I like the Viva Glam.
4.I carry hand cream just to keep my hands looking smooth and soft especially in the winter months.I never leave the house without sunscreen.
5. Anything with a sun factor over 30 is good to stop the aging process and to protect your skin from sun damage such as pigmentation.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding fashion models, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of modelling?
Ms. Jade Hill: The trick is to be yourself. Don’t try to be someone you are not because you believe others want you to be that way. Your personality is what defines you and the work you bring in. Be polite, kind & professional at all times. Always listen to the client and be open to criticism. If you have had a bad day on set – try find the positivity in it and work on those things. To remain humble is very important.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have done bold photo shoots for various magazines and brands. How are you so body confident and advice to your compatriots?
Ms. Jade Hill: In this industry you need to be body confident, you cannot allow for the small things to get to you. You need to believe in yourself and your capabilities and trust the teams that you work with. You need to love your body for the way it is. Everyone is different and beauty comes in different shapes and sizes.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?
Ms. Jade Hill: First off its fantastic that women fitness reaches to 150 countries, helping so many women. I love that it’s not only about weight loss and fad diets, but about helping women with advice on pregnancy and how to lead a healthy lifestyle while being pregnant.
