Share your workout during a lockdown?
India Shawn:
I do an hour of yoga led by CorePower instructors. The classes I take are vinyasa based but include a lot of balance practice, inversion play, and lots of focus on spinal movement. I recently ordered some gear to try out Pilates — that’s my next challenge.
Namita Nayyar:
You are an advocate for self-love. One piece of advice for the young girls who face issues realizing it?
India Shawn:
I’ve come to realize that my insecurities were rooted in false beliefs that I’d formed as a young girl. Beliefs are just things we repeatedly tell ourselves. I told myself that I wasn’t good enough, I wasn’t worthy of love, and that I would need to work extra hard to prove myself.
I think it’s important that we all understand the power of our words. My advice is simply to affirm you. Tell yourself you are beautiful, you are worthy; you are ENOUGH, until you believe it.
Namita Nayyar:
Social media is instrumental in today’s era. One thing you love and hate about it?
India Shawn:
I love that there are so many worlds to explore on social media. You can go down a fitness rabbit hole, or cooking, or beauty etc. There’s so much to discover. I hate that we often find ourselves comparing our lives to what we see on social media, when in fact there’s so little context for what a person’s life actually looks like.
