Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up with Georgia-Mae Fenton, a British Artistic Gymnast Commonwealth Games Gold medalist; here she talks about her fitness routine, her diet, her beauty secrets and success story.
Namita Nayyar:
You were seven years old when you watched Russian-American gymnast Nastia Liukin sweep the all-around gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, this inspired you to become a gymnast. You took to start your career in gymnastics. This propelled your gymnastics career to the height where you won your first championship in 2013 Espoir English all-around champion. Later you went on to win 2019 British Championships uneven bars and beam championship. Tell us something about this fairy tale journey?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
Everyone’s journey is different and mine has ups and downs. I have worked really hard and overcome a lot and I’m proud to be where I am today. I’ve had so many amazing experiences and can’t wait to continue making many more.
Namita Nayyar:
You won the Gold on uneven bars at XXI Commonwealth Games, also known as Gold Coast 2018 Queensland, Australia. How these spectacular achievements motivate you to reach greater professional sporting heights?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
Winning gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, it gave me some insight into what it was like to win a Major medal and it has only motivated me to continue to try and win more major medals and work hard to get even more major competitions.
Namita Nayyar:
You are a world-leading artistic gymnast, model, and brand ambassador. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
I have a lot of support and guidance around me which really helps me, I love all the things that I do which make it a lot easier to manage. I love designing leotards and modeling and I wouldn’t have these opportunities without my gymnastics career in the first place, I’m grateful to be able to have these opportunities from my sport.

Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
I normally train six days a week roughly eight hours a day I also do strength and conditioning program every Wednesday and Saturday, we like to include ballet a few times a week too. I always like to keep on track with my physio programs to make sure I am fit enough to train consistently. I like to have a routine and be organized.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
Personally I don’t follow any strict diet I do however make sure to eat healthy every day and ensure that I eat the right food to recover and refuel my body so I can train the next day but I do still have treats and I’m not too strict on myself.
Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
For skincare I try to use products that don’t have fragrance in them as my skin can be quite sensitive I have recently started using Cerave cleanser and moisturizer which I really like, I make sure to double cleanse my face using micellar water and my Clinique cream cleanser to take my makeup off then use my Cerave cleanser after and then moisturize and I have found this keeps my skin in good condition otherwise I don’t do too much else. For my hair care I’m still trying to figure out what works best but I use lots of coconut and Argan oil on my hair to stop it from being dry.
Namita Nayyar:
In February 2016 you broke your hand while performing a new floor skill. You were unable to train for five weeks. A foot injury forced you to withdraw from the 2017 World Cup event in London, England. How you are physically and mentally able to overcome these sporting injuries and your advice to the young gymnasts, who are inspired by you?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
I’ve had quite a few injuries and they are a part of gymnastics but it important to remember you can come back stronger from them and to try remain positive anytime I’ve got injured I’ve always found a way to still work on things without using the body part that is injured for example I got a lot of Leg injuries when I was younger and that gave me a chance to work on bars and now that is my strongest piece. Another thing to remember is to make sure that you do your physio exercises properly as they are there to help you recover.
Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding young gymnast girls, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of artistic gymnastics?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
Remember that it’s a journey and not everything will happen straight away perseverance is key, keep working hard, push yourself but make sure you love what you’re doing.
I’ve always said Dreams don’t work unless you do.
Namita Nayyar:
In December 2017 ‘The Derwael/Fenton’ was added to the Code of Points for the uneven bars by the International Gymnastics Federation. The element was first performed by Fenton and Belgian gymnast Nina Derwael at the 2017 World Championships in Montreal, QC, Canada. It’s a powerful technique that involves crossing hands as they catch and release the high bar while twisting in mid-air. Now the move is in the gymnastics code of points, so others can replicate it and be awarded points for it in their routines – It is a great “honor” bestowed on you. Tell us more about this?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
So I first started working the skill in 2016 it took a long time to get it consistent and the connection out of it, we didn’t really realize that no one had done it before so it was super exciting and the first time I did it in a major competition. I wasn’t thinking about it potentially being named after me I just wanted to do a good routine. It really is ahonor to be in the code of points and have my own skill as that will stay in there forever.
Namita Nayyar:
You have done bold photo shoots with Agent Provocateur. How you are so body confident and advice to your compatriots?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
I think the main thing is to love yourself and appreciate what you have got. I’ve worked hard since I was 7 years old to be physically fit and I’m proud of that. No one is you and that is your talent.
Namita Nayyar:
What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
Women Fitness is a great platform of information specific to women’s needs and a good way to keep women involved in their health and fitness journeys and empower them to be great.
Namita Nayyar:
Today social media plays a vital role in putting your message across to your followers and fans. You have recently launched a new fitness page https://www.instagram.com/gmf.it/. Tell us more about this endeavor of yours?
Georgia-Mae Fenton:
Yes I have just launched my new page, the aim is to give some insight into my life as a elite athlete for example my training regime, what I like to eat and a chance to share some workouts I do. I would love to help the younger generation of gymnasts with advice and what motivates me. It’s a tough sport, it is beautiful to watch the artistry and skills working together.
