Check out as Namita Nayyar, President Women Fitness, catches up with the Stunning Plus-size Model Fluvia Lacerda on fashion, fitness and much more!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have become an inspiration for millions of women and young girls all around the world since you started modeling and are best known as the “plus-size Gisele Bündchen”. Walk us through your spectacular modeling journey and tell us how it all began?
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
I used to work as a nanny in NYC and one day a magazine fashion editor approached me inside a bus and asked me if I had ever considered the idea of becoming a plus size model. I had no idea what she was talking about! She gave me her card and explained to me that there were agencies dedicated to this side of the industry and advised me to go pay them a visit. About a month later I did and that’s how it basically started.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Introduce us to a day in your life.
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
I don’t have a typical routine as I travel quite a lot. I’m usually waking up every 4 or 5 days in a different country. I usually have to wake up very early to go to photo shoots and if by the end of the day I’m not incredibly tired, I’ll do an hour at the hotel gym. I love yoga (bikram) and biking.
If I’m home I’m just enjoying my children and being at home, doing the usual mom stuff… taking them to school, going to the supermarket or organic local market.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine to stay fit and healthy?
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
Biking for sure is what I love the most. I bike everywhere in NYC. I love yoga and ever since I discovered bikram, it’s become my very favorite style to practice! I have been enjoying Pilates as well.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tell us your Top 5 Favorite Healthy Foods or Recipes.
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
Guacamole, wild rice with kale and garlic, eggplant lasagna with fake cheese, roasted veggies with rosemary and garlic and juicing a mix of veggies and fruits for breakfast.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your haircare and skincare routine.
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
I make sure I drink lots of water daily, especially in the morning while my stomach is empty. I also invest in good skin care and hair products.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
In the present day scenario, with the rise of social media, how do you think has social media impacted an everyday woman, bringing in multi-fold opportunities to them? Also, what according to you is the one worst thing about it?
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
Social media has definitely changed the way we live and most of all, do business. It has completely opened doors for women to have a voice and stand for what they believe in. It’s a fantastic way for us to share the things we are passionate about- be a product, a life style or a cause.
But unfortunately it has a negative side as well and to me that is that whoever chooses to do evil, like bullying others, have become comfortable wearing the “masks” of a phone or computer screen to act their coward nature in the pursuit of hurting others. Thankfully now it has become easier and easier for us to find out who they are and therefore hold them responsible for their actions.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tell us your Top Fashion Secrets to look gorgeous and glamorous?
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
1-Respect your measurements! No one knows ( or cares!) what that number on your jean tag is! Enslaving yourself to a number even if that disrespects your measurements is definitely not fair to your body or a good look in general!
2- Be true to your own personal style, no matter what others say. Fashion is one of our strongest ways of expressing who we are, wearing something that “is you” translates to the world a lot about who you are.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have modeled for many top magazines and brands like Torrid, Fashion Bug, Kiabi France and Vogue Italy. What is your motivation and inspiration behind being so beautifully body confident?
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
Quite honestly, I have never really cared about what others think of me. Their opinions about my looks is something for them to deal with, not me. And so at the moment you free yourself from the worries of trying to please others, you really have a lot of room in your mind to appreciate who you are and that’s how I live my life.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
The fashion industry has had an incredible breakthrough, getting over the norm of stereotype shapes and sizes, but it still has a long way to go. What according to you are the 3 lessons that it still needs to learn?
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
1-Be inclusive with all sizes is key. What we have now is more average size women working in the fashion industry, and not many real plus size women.
2-Racial diversity has to become more consistent!
3- We definitely need more labels to embrace a broader sizing in the clothes they make. Women deserve to be well dressed no matter what size they wear.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
With a massive following of over 198K followers on your Instagram account @fluvialacerda, you’re a social media sensation and a role model for plus size women. How does it feel that you are able to inspire so many individuals?
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
It’s the most rewarding part of my work! I love sharing with them a bit of my world and in return the love I receive from them is absolutely incredible!!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for our readers?
Ms. Fluvia Lacerda:
No one should be judged by their appearance. Jumping into negative conclusions about someone’s health based on their looks is one of the biggest mistakes people make nowadays. I believe that respecting one another is the key to the first and most important health aspect of living a healthy and happy life!
