The Fall/Winter 2022/2023 fashion Colour Palette is made of a range of colors with very bright colors together with restorative ones.
Key Fashion colors of the Season
Bright orange, intense red, fucsia, blues, emerald green.
In accordance with the “Pantone Colour Institute”, this year’s winter colours for 2022 are strongly characterized by ambivalence: on the one hand, we are looking for calm and serenity in uncertain times. On the other hand, we finally want to enjoy our lives. The shades in the palette for Autumn/Winter 2022/2023 reflect this dichotomy.
Delicate shades with a high proportion of white, such as the light-blue “Watersprout”, the yellow-white “Arctic Wolf” or the calming green shade “Loden Frost” stand for the retreat into privacy and our search for comfort. This contrasts with brightly colored shades that are bursting with zest for life and energy, such as the pink and purple “Rose Violet” variation, or the vitality-filled orange of “Orange Tiger”. This wide spectrum of trendy shades opens up free-spirited design possibilities for your own personal style. That sounds good news for all fashionistas!
Red:
“Poinciana” is a spectacular, intense shade of red that makes a dramatic statement wherever it appears. Red usually turns people’s heads, but this new and majestic trend tone has it all. The intense nuance really comes into its own on lightly tanned skin in the warmer half of the year. For winter 2022, Pantone will present one of the most beautiful reds of recent years: “Lava Falls”. This vital red has a captivating presence and evokes the sense of a passionate kiss in the snow.
Pink:
The colour pink stands for femininity, youth, and romance. “Innuendo” wants to be seen, while “Bubblegum”, with its playful attitude, has an infectiously positive effect – and is no less conspicuous. The lighter, rose shades of pink are more subtle. “Gossamer Pink” comes across as easygoing. Pastel enthusiasts will love the cheerful “Potpourri”. In winter 2022, we will be accompanied by another nuance in the bonbon shade: “Nosegay”. This nostalgic rosé brings back memories of the nanny’s garden.
Yellow:
The yellow tones “Daffodil” and “Popcorn” will bring positive vibes into your wardrobe. While yellow shades such as lemon or canary yellow were the trend last year, more subtle tones are also popular this year. The unobtrusive “Popcorn”, for example, stands for pure lightness. The vibrant “Daffodil”, on the other hand, is one of the brightest fashion colours on the summer palette. With “Samoan Sun”, another sunny yellow shade will be added in winter 2022 to brighten up our dark days.
Orange:
The trend colours of 2022 are definitely more versatile than ever and surprisingly different. The new warm orange-brown, with the melodious name “Sudan Brown” also makes our fashionista hearts beat faster. With its earthy, natural character, it reminds us of the power of nature. It blends classic light brown with mustard tones for a shade that works just as well for city looks as it does for a day in the country. In winter, the shade “Orange Tiger” will enrich our fashion looks. This vital orange is based on THE trendy colour of the 1970s and will lift the spirits on dreary winter days.
Purple:
This color exudes its own magic and sometimes divides opinions. In fashion, dynamic shades like “Dahlia” or soft shades like “Orchid Bloom” are en vogue this season. Pantone has chosen the vibrant “Rose Violet” as this winter’s most expressive colour.
Gregarious Greens:
Green will always be a color symbolic of abundance, growth, and renewal. Promoting a sense of rest and security, it makes perfect sense that many designers in London gravitated toward various green shades. Playful and rejuvenating, Abundant Green became a cult popular Pantone option in London and Milan. A lush and easy to accentuate green, Amazon was a color that was chosen as the backbone of many prints this year at New York Fashion Week. A lemon tinted green, Cardamon Seed provided a bit of citrusy flair to the London runways. You’ll be seeing the cool liquid Loden Frost and the sinking green olive colors around. Using the garnish as inspiration for a green color trend, designers at Derek Lam, Tanya Taylor, and Proenza Schouler all embraced the earthy green.
Blue:
Often paired with soft pinks or greens, the color blue gives off a feeling of reliability and security. Blueberry, a mysterious mix of blue and purple, this shade opened up many designers and creative directors to find comfort in fall’s more common color trends. ‘Blavy’ (a word to describe the combination of blues and blacks), Polar Night would be this color. Used in small and subtle details throughout London Fashion Week, Lichen Blue is a pale blue-gray that instantly transports one to views of hazy winter mountain tops. A deeply saturated blue-green, Waterspout can easily be seen in anything from eyeliner to interior design, this color is most likely going to stick around for a while for the simple reason that it’s just so transitional.
Brown:
The tasteful shades of brown radiate sensuality and exude a spicy, warm note. “Coca Mocha”, a rich shade of chocolate, warms our hearts just by looking at it. “Coffee Quartz” can do even more: the classy, elegant colour is often found in glamorous night-out looks. A statement for 24/7 harmony! This autumn/winter, the delicious “Caramel Café” shade will expand the colour palette — a medium brown with a retro nuance that packs a punch.
Beige:
In 2022, we love “Humus” – tasteful and just made for the tailoring trend – as well as “Perfectly Pale”. This sandy beige is the colour for all fashion events and for the flowing, body-caressing robes of our holiday looks. In winter 2022, we are thrilled to have the very yellow-tinged, creamy “Autumn Blonde”.
The Grey
While black gives off the assumption of mystery, power, and elegance, gray tones stand in for neutrality and balance, given the fact that the color is created from black and white. Often used to symbolize darker days, sadness, and loss, these hues are more popular during the fall and winter. Sitting somewhere between Chiseled Stone and Polar Night, this solid gray was included in both Pantone’s London and New York color trends. Lending a bit of cool elegance to any outfit, this gray was used in velvet suits and warm coats alike for both Temperley London and Bav Tailor.
Wintery Whites
White was used in many of the collections to provide a natural sense of stability. Often symbolizing purity and innocence along with a bit of practicality, cream, and white hues added the perfect balance to the highly saturated colors that many designers and creative directors reached for the 2022-2023 season.
Autumn Blonde, Tapioca (Coming from the name of the root of the cassava plant), and other Pantone color that many creative directors embraced for their houses’ fall and winter collections.
Colors play the main role in every outfit every season. So make sure you keep up with this year’s fashion.
