Buckwheat is best source of high-quality, easily digestible proteins and is close to being a "complete" protein. Add this hearty fruit to your meals as a way to keep off the pounds while eating healthy. High protein buckwheat flour is being studied for possible use in foods to reduce plasma cholesterol, body fat, and cholesterol gallstones. Buckwheat starch can also act as a fat alternative in processed foods. Buckwheat is a very good source of manganese and a good source of copper, dietary fiber, and phosphorus. Buckwheat contains two flavonoids with significant health-promoting actions: rutin and quercitin.

The Power of Words
Words
captivate and control the human emotions. They anger us,
they make us rejoice, they make us cry, and they make us
hope. We're constantly judging our happiness based on
the words given from someone.
Words not used in the correct way bring wreck, havoc,
and disharmony to those whom the words are fired
towards. However, one good, edifying word brings joy and
hope to those who need it most. The ways words are said
reveal the condition of the heart and the status of the
circumstance. When used correctly, words have the power
to change the world. Words are attached to the soul;
they are a member of us. The word goes from the page and
infuses into our inmost being.
If you want to change your life and destiny, consciously
choose the words to describe your emotional state.

Makes: 8 servings
|
|
Nutritional Information:
Per Serving
Calories: 120 Kcal,
Fat: 7 g,
Carbohydrate: 16 g,
Protein: 3 g, Fiber: 3 g. |
Ingredients:
-
3/4 lb. Brussels sprouts
-
1 Fuji or Gala apple, peeled, cored and finely
chopped
-
2/3 cup dried cranberries
-
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
-
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
-
1/8 tsp. freshly ground pepper
-
1/3 cup fresh Meyer lemon juice or 1/4 cup fresh
lemon juice
-
1 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
|
Directions:
-
Trim bottom from sprouts and remove any loose or
bruised leaves. Place shredding disk or fine slicing
disk in food processor, and using feeder tube,
gradually shred Brussels sprouts; there will be
about 4½ cups (see Note). Transfer shredded sprouts
to mixing bowl.
-
Add apple, cranberries, walnuts, salt, pepper and
lemon juice and stir with a fork for 1 minute to
combine well. Add oil and stir well. Cover and
refrigerate slaw for 3 hours to overnight. Re-stir
before serving. This slaw is best served within 24
hours.
-
Note: If your food processor does not have a
shredding dish, quarter Brussels sprouts vertically
and place in food processor fitted with a chopping
blade. Pulse until sprouts are finely chopped,
stopping several times to scrape down bowl. Take
care not to leave big chunks or to turn sprouts into
mush.
