Eliana Girard is the female winner on season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance. Her genre is contemporary ballet. Eliana grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. She first started dancing at the age of 3 and a half. She left Dreyfoos High School of the Arts to dance at Joffrey Ballet School, and went the following year to Alvin Ailey School. She started her career with Cirque Du Soleil in July 2009.
Eliana Girard always knew she wanted to audition to be on So You Think You Can Dance. What she didn’t know was that she would one day stand on the stage as a winner and receive the title of America’s Favorite Female Dancer. Eliana and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp were crowned the season nine winners, beating out their fellow competitors, Tiffany Maher and Cyrus Spencer.
Eliana first auditioned for season 9 in Los Angeles, California. Eliana is delivered the message by Debbie that she had made it to the Top 20. She dances a ballet routine with Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Daniel Baker. The piece was danced to “Romantic Inclinations/Like A Shot/Fury” by P. Mottram, S. Everitt, G. Shadid, and T. Marberger, and choreographed by Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson. Eliana is praised by Nigel and calls her a wonderful dancer. Mary calls her a “ballet warrior” for her fierceness, attitude, passion, and energy.
Eliana has been designing a clothing line for Sugar and Bruno since 2013. Guest judge Adam Shankman also praises Eliana, telling her that she’s the hardest working woman in show business.
Eliana Girard Winner on season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance is in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You started at a very young age of three and a half years by taking dancing lessons and reached the pinnacle of success by winning “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 9 – What factors do you consider were responsible that made you achieve that?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
I definitely contribute the stamina and mental will power of being able to get through the show to my experiences at Cirque du Soleil. After performing for them for 2 1/2 years, the experiences(physical and emotional) helped prepare me for the roller coaster that is So You Think You Can Dance.
I would have to say my own self. Many of times my insecurities and mind games stop me from progressing farther than I would like to. It sometimes takes me doing daily affirmation of looking in the mirror and believing that I deserve success and not being afraid of trying.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
what exercises or workout you do daily to remain fit?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
I make sure to at least do one type of workout daily whether it be Pilates, hot yoga, weights, or a crossfit cardio workout. I’ll usually give myself one to two days off a week depending on how fatigued or sore I become. And if I’m really good, I’ll stretch before bed as well.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
Absolutely! I try my best to have portioned meals with healthy snacks in between. Routine and habit is key for me to stay on a healthy diet.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hairs. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hairs to make them look so stunning?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
Haha why thank you! I always use a moisturizing wash before going to bed with toner as well, and I’ll use a scrub after workouts. My favorite thing to do is give myself a clay facial once a week! As for my hair…it’s a bit tricky because weather affects curls tremendously! I’ve been using sulfate free products all across the board! I shampoo one day, condition the following and trade off depending on how my hair feels. And I use leave-in coconut moisturizer everyday. I tend not to use any gels or hairspray. If my curls need any volume I’ll use a diffuser after a shower.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding professional dance girls who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to ladder of success in the field professional dancing?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
This road is not easy and doesn’t just come to you. However much work you’re willing to put in reaps the same amount of rewards. You have to do this career full heartedly! Every time I feel scared to audition or try anything new, I always remind myself that I would feel more regret not trying then giving it a shot and it not working out.
There’s no such thing as failure! It is a means of getting you to the next step! I say go for whatever your heart desires because this life is worth making it what you want it to be!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
How did you feel before and after your memorable wining the “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 9 ?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
I honestly wasn’t going to audition because I was too scared too! My mom had to kick my butt to go, and I have her to thank because I wouldn’t have even tried without her support! Every moment through out the competition is something that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life! It felt like the best summer camp EVER! And it’s still hard for me to this day to believe that it all actually happened haha!!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tell us about your experience at “Viva ELVIS” ?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
It was the best job to start my career off with! It taught me how to suck up pain, injuries, and laziness and to keep pushing on. Like they always say, “the show must go on”. I learned about the importance of being a team when it comes to putting on shows. It was great to be challenged on being a quick learner because there were many of times where someone would go out during shows so you’d have to mentally know everyone’s track and positions on stage and change the line up in an instance. Also we’d have the fastest record for quick changes hahaha!! But overall we became family and I still keep in contact with everyone to this day!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Who has been your inspiration and motivation in choosing dancing as your profession ?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
Many people have been my inspiration! Growing up, I used to love watching Alessandra Ferri, Paloma Herrera and Sylvie Guillem! I pretty much was an American Ballet Theater addict! As I learned more, my inspirations came a lot from William Forsythe and Jiri Kylian works. But I also had amazing teachers that pushed me: Susan Lyle, Marcie Russo, Milton Myers, Tracey Inman, Jane Wong and Francesca Harper.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Tell us about your dancing experience with partner Cyrus Spencer ?
Ms. Eliana Girard:
Dancing with Cyrus was such a blast!! We would goof around and just be stupid!! But when we’d get stressed out or frazzled we were both there to calm each other down. It was like dancing with your best friend! I’m so grateful I got to go through the whole experience with him! I wouldn’t have had it any other way!
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
