Fitness Entrepreneur Danielle Natoni Unveils How The INSANITY Workout Works!

American fitness entrepreneur and coach also known as Fit and Funky who made the transition from 5th grade math teacher to respected fitness guru. She has served as a Master Trainer for the INSANITY workout program.

Danielle has two passions—teaching and fitness, and fulfills those passions as the INSANITY Format Expert and INSANITY Master Trainer ranking 3rd in 2013. She is also a personal trainer, Nike Training Club Trainer, and a group fitness trainer, teaching PiYo, Turbo Kick, P90X, hip hop HUSTLE and Zumba.

Women Fitness President Namita Nayyar recently caught up with her to talk about her fitness goals!

Namita Nayyar:

You played the violin all the way through high school and began dancing when you were three years old. Later you joined Team Beachbody. Tell us about your journey that took you to the world of fitness and as a fitness expert?

Danielle Natoni:

I grew up in a household where fitness was important. My mom took aerobics classes and my dad loved to power lift at the gym. With my background in dance, being healthy and active just made sense and essentially was part of my DNA. When I became a mom pretty early on (22 years old) I made a decision in that moment that I wouldn’t let my daughter be the reason why I am not healthy and rather she would be the reason why I am healthy. I began doing workouts in the living room utilizing the free Denise Austin workout videos that were on LifeTime. I started buying fitness magazines and basically just became the go-to fitness girl to all my friends and family. Later when I joined Team Beachbody it was an easy transition to turn my love for fitness and my passion for education into a full-time career as a fitness professional.

Namita Nayyar:

How your experience and background of dancing has helped you in your present profession of being a Fitness Expert and Fitness Coach?

Danielle Natoni:

Dancers have a way of moving their bodies that others do not. They are aware of their lines, their posture, and body positioning. This movement quality I feel has really allowed me to excel in my range of motion and form when working out which is vital when creating movements and modifications for workouts. 

Namita Nayyar:

Share the exercise routine that you do to maintain such a bikini perfect physique?

Danielle Natoni:

I completely proof that Beachbody programs work. I do one of our home-based workout programs from start to finish religiously. From INSANITY style workouts, to dance workouts, or workouts with low weights high rep like the 21 Day Fix I follow the lead of Beachbody’s Super Trainers to keep my body in peak physical condition year round. 

Namita Nayyar:

What is your diet? Do you take a particular fixed regulated diet comprising of nutrients and vitamins to keep you in perfect health?

Danielle Natoni:

I follow a fairly Paleo like eating plan. My approach is pretty simple. I try to eat foods that will make me healthier. I do not count calories or macros as when I am fueling my body with whole foods I know when I am hungry and when I am not. I drink Shakeology daily in addition to my foods to give me all the vitamins and minerals I need that I may not be getting from my food. And, on occasion, I eat french fries! I love french fries. 

Namita Nayyar:

What is your motivation to take a multi-faceted personality of a fitness model, personal trainer and nutritional expert?

Danielle Natoni:

I want other women like me to know anything is possible. That being a wife and a mom is amazing, but it doesn’t mean that your dreams and aspirations have to take a back seat. We can have it all. We can be healthy and fit. We can have amazing careers. We can inspire the world. I always say I am no more special or talented than anyone else. That really motivates me and fuels me to be the example to others out there that anything is possible with a little heart and hustle. 

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Danielle Natoni:

My skin regimen is really simple. I eat clean, drink tons of water and wash my face with soap and water! OMG! Crazy right? I wish I had some glamorous routine to share with you but that is really it. I attribute my glowing skin to leaving the toxins out of my diet, regular exercise, and staying really hydrated. As for my hair, I actually have hair extensions in right now. They are from Di Biase Hair USA and have really helped my natural hair grow at the same time. 

Namita Nayyar:

Fitness modeling is about bold photo shoots. What advice do you wish to give to the women of today to be body confident in order to do such bold modeling?

Danielle Natoni:

You have to love the skin you are in first. If you don’t love the person you see staring at you in the mirror every day, there is nothing you can do to prepare for a photo shoot. Your insecurities will shine through the camera lens. My best advice is to find love within yourself first, and the rest will fall into place. 

Namita Nayyar:

Who has been your greatest influencer and motivator in your success in the field of your career of being a fitness expert?

Danielle Natoni:

I have tons of motivators. My top motivator is someone who doesn’t even really exist and is a fictional character. I have always been inspired and motivated by the character Rocky Balboa. I love the idea of going the distance. Of not letting obstacles get in your way. That no matter what you can accomplish anything in life. “It’s not how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward”.

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us more about the “Insanity Workout”?

Danielle Natoni:

INSANITY was created by celebrity trainer and my best friend Shaun T. It is an overall body workout that incorporates max interval training, longer periods of work, shorter periods of rest. You use your own body as your equipment while doing athletic style drills. It is truly functional fitness at its finest. 

Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?

Danielle Natoni:

To all women out there…make YOU your number one priority. You cannot be a good wife, a good mom, a good boss, a good friend if you don’t take care of you first. When you are the best possible, you are better for the world.
