Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Christmas Abbott: I follow my own Badass Body Diet Book recommendations. It’s important to understand not only portion control for your sport and body but also quality! I’ve actually been working on an app to help beginners understand the basics of food and nutrition. (They can sign up to be notified when it releases on my website: christmasabbott.com)
Nutrition should be simple and unfortunately it’s not. But my approach keeps the basics and real life in check. Meaning it’s simplified and can be tailored to your level of experience very easily.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding CrossFit training girls who all are your fans, they shall like to know from you, what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in field of CrossFit Games ?
Ms. Christmas Abbott: First, have FUN with the process. It won’t always be fun but if you truly love the sport then you will become successful because you will have an unlimited amount of passion. That passion will help you get through those hard training sessions that feel like they will never end.
Second, trust the entire process! Instant gratification demands won’t work in this sport. This sport demands respect from your training methods, recovery, nutrition, sleep, and overall wellness. It is not one dimensional. Be patient with yourself and your growth and respect all the aspects of it.
Third, get coaches and have them talk to you and one another. It takes a team to build an athlete. You have to know exactly where you are, where you want to be, when, and all of your strengths and weaknesses. To understand that much about yourself and your training you need another set of eyes on you.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Elaborate about your experience of being at NASCAR as a front tire changer?
Ms. Christmas Abbott: It was the hardest and most exhilarating thing I have ever done!! I wasn’t interested in it because I didn’t know about it and had a set assumption that I wouldn’t like it. Well, I was WRONG! I saw what was happening during the pit stop demo and needed to try it and fell instantly in love. It was very demanding and difficult but a great experience.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your endeavour as a owner and head coach at CrossFit Invoke?
Ms. Christmas Abbott: I love my gym CrossFit Invoke! It all started out from a boot camp I started teaching after moving to Raleigh, NC. From there I had a few friends help coach and I started to coach them on their coaching. Eventually I implemented a system of internship, assistant coach, to coach promotion and have produced several other successful gym owners, CF Games Athletes and CrossFit HQ Seminar Staff members. The community is diverse and my favorite place to be.
