Ms. Namita Nayyar: Congratulations on becoming Miss Hawaii USA 2016! Share with us your experience of winning such a prestigious title.
Ms. Chelsea Hardin: Thank you! In the beginning, I didnt know much about pageants and everything that it entails, so I went into the year not really knowing what to expect. What I learned, and I learned quickly, was that when one becomes a title holder, you instantly become a public figure and a role model. You get the opportunity to work with numerous charities in helping with events and fundraisers, you become heavily involved in the community and meet people from all walks of life. Through events and appearances, and being on talk shows and the news, I was able to increase awareness for the non-profit that I currently work for and becoming involved in numerous other great non-profits and organizations. One of my favorite parts of being Miss Hawaii USA is knowing that young girls look up to me and I can make their day with just a smile.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What is a day like in the life of Miss Hawaii USA 2016 “Chelsea Hardin”?
Ms. Chelsea Hardin: Everyday seems to be different as I could either be doing an all day shoot for modeling or laying out getting a tan! I also travel a lot for modeling, Miss Hawaii USA gigs and for pleasure, so sometimes I’ll only be in Hawaii for a few weeks out of the month! What I make sure is a constant however, is getting in a good workout and getting my heart rate up, weather that means putting time in the gym with my trainer, going on a hike, or getting in the water, I always make sure to do something active at least once a day.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding fashion models, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of modeling?
Ms. Chelsea Hardin: I’ve learned quickly it’s a tough and cut throat business out there. The most important thing I learned was to stop trying to make everyone else happy and start making myself happy instead. And this is the advice I would give to all girls, young or old who want to make their mark in the modeling industry. Be happy with how you look, and to not change yourself so drastically that you become a different person, regardless if you do or don’t get the job based on your body image or your look. Everybody has their niche in the industry, for some it’s runway, for others it’s fitness modeling and once you find your niche, you can be happy with yourself, which translates to being happy at work and with the results. Why change who you are when someone is out there looking for somebody exactly like you. With that said, maintain a healthy body, be confident and always make sure to be kind to people because kindness goes a long way no matter what industry you are working in.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?
Ms. Chelsea Hardin: Womenfitness.net is such a great tool to have, I visit the website religiously, whether it’s for finding ideas to change up my at-home workout routine, looking for new and healthy recipes, wanting to stay on trend with beauty and fashion, helping get (and stay) motivated or just wanting to read inspiring stories of real life people doing well in life. Womenfitness.net is more than just a website, for me it’s a place where one can go to ask questions about health related issues, or things we flat out don’t want to ask our parents about. Everyone has questions, needs new recipes, and sometimes are in search of a few extra reasons to get motivated, womenfitness.net is the perfect place for me to find just that.
