Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are an exceptionally talented actress and model, best known for your appearances in the Playboy magazine, on the MTV game show Singled Out, on the TV series Baywatch, and dancing with the Pussycat Dolls. Walk us through this incredible journey and how it all began?
Ms. Carmen Electra:
At the age of five, my mom enrolled me into dance classes because she said I was dancing from the time I could walk. When I turned nine years old, I auditioned and made it into the school for creative and performing arts in Cincinnati, Ohio where I majored in classical ballet and modern dance. While attending the school, I started getting parts in many musicals like The Sound of Music, The King and I, Peter Pan, and so on. At that time, my dream was to dance on Broadway, but my goals would soon change after meeting a young lady who was visiting my hometown from LA.
A group of us went out to a teen club where we would go every weekend to dance. She pulled me aside and said “I could see you dancing for Janet Jackson or someone like that. You should come to LA.” I was so excited and I saved up enough money for a plane ticket and she let me stay at her house. While I was visiting LA, I ended up getting a demo deal with Capitol Records and because of this opportunity, I was able to stay in Hollywood much longer.
Around the same time, I auditioned for an all girl band that Prince was producing. He decided to sign me as a solo artist on his Paisley Park record label. I was in shock. I moved to Minneapolis for about two years while he produced my self titled album and gave me the chance to open up for him on the Diamonds and Pearls tour in Europe. What an amazing experience. After the tour, I decided I wanted to live in LA and try to make it on my own. That’s when the real struggle began. I had no car, no bank account, some nice clothes and makeup, and just some friends I met while living in LA. It was a really hard time, but I was determined to make something happen with my career.
Eventually, I met a manager who started sending me out on auditions and I landed the part of Jenny McCarthy’s replacement on MTV’s Singled Out and that was what got the ball rolling.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have starred in one of the most-watched TV series “Baywatch”. Tell us about your experience of working on the show, which has been a catalyst in achieving success in your career? Also, tell us about the shooting and behind the scenes fun that you’ve had?
Ms. Carmen Electra:
Baywatch is much more physical than I expected. Our director was a real lifeguard and put us through training before we started shooting. The days were long, hot, freezing cold, and exhausting so I gained so much respect for the cast and crew and all the years of hard work they put into the show. In between takes, we had so much fun always playing practical jokes on each other. I remember depantsing one of the male cast members on our show during our lunch break. That was the best because I got away with it.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You are world leading media personality, model, actress, television personality, singer, and dancer. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?
Ms. Carmen Electra:
When I first started working in television and film, I was so nervous but excited to try something different other than dance and music. I love the challenge, the variety, and all the things I’ve learned by just jumping right in, but still to this day I am most comfortable dancing and performing live on stage.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?
Ms. Carmen Electra:
Dancing is the best exercise for me, but if I’m not dancing I hit the gym. I usually start off with about 20 minutes of cardio, either riding the bike or walking on an incline. Then, I do a series of sit-ups to keep my core tight. Otherwise, it’s all legs for me— the sled or squats mixed in with some other exercises as well. I stopped working out my arms for some time, but now I’m planning on getting back into it so I keep balance throughout my entire body.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
What kind of diet do you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Ms. Carmen Electra:
I wake up and have a smoothie with strawberries, acai, protein, spinach, wheat grass, goji berries and many other fruits, vegetables, and superfoods. For lunch and dinner, protein and vegetables, salads, or sushi is what gets me through the day. Some days, I eat whatever I want as long as I’m exercising enough. My biggest struggle is my cravings for sweets, but I’ve learned to take it easy on myself and get the cravings out of the way so I don’t obsess over them. My ultimate goal is to eat healthy all week and have Sunday as my cheat day where I can eat as much as I want and whatever I want.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing? What do you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?
Ms. Carmen Electra:
My skin routine starts off with my SkinCeuticals Facial Cleanser, then a light scrub. If I’ve had a lot of makeup on that is not coming all the way off of my skin easily, I use Albotene Moisturizing Cleanser. It really gets all the makeup off while keeping the moisture in. I live for this product and highly recommend it. I also love the oxygen facials at Ole Henriksen and constantly drink water all day long to keep my skin hydrated.
As far as my hair, I really don’t do anything special to it because it’s naturally straight. I like to lighten my hair because it gives it more texture and helps hold waves and curls better.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have acted in multiple films like the Scary Movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Disaster Movie. Share with us one memorable experience that you’ve had through these movies.
Ms. Carmen Electra:
We had no idea how successful Scary Movie was going to be so it was life changing for me. I believe it gave people a chance to see that I don’t take myself so seriously. I’ve always made fun of myself and love to make my friends laugh so these movies are right up my alley and I always enjoy working on a set full of fun and laughter.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
People love your fashion style! Tell us about your current Top 5 Fashion Must-haves.
Ms. Carmen Electra:
I’ve always worked out in regular sneakers like Chucks or shell toes, but now I’m finally rocking my Nike Air Max Thea at the gym to prevent injuries. For me in my daily life, I prefer a designer backpack because I carry half of my house with me everywhere I go (LOL). A great pair of black leggings are a must because they go with everything. There are so many fashionable ones out there now in every style— from simple and classy to edgy and sexy. Chunky jewelry is a great way to bump up a casual look. It gives a simple outfit more of a vibe. I love a thick chain necklace or stacking rings on almost all of my fingers. But don’t over do it! Choose a great statement piece and simplify the rest. I’m obsessed with motorcycle jackets. I have them in almost every color. They give a little edge to a casual daytime outfit and it’s such an easy piece to wear with a short dress or even a long flowing gown.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have done various photo shoots with several top magazines like the Playboy. How are you so body confident and advice to your compatriots?
Ms. Carmen Electra:
Well, I’m not always body confident. I’ve done many shoots where I feel bloated or wasn’t working out that much and could totally see my weight gain or loss of muscle tone in the photos. My advice would be to prepare yourself for any opportunity coming your way, but the great thing about the entertainment business now is that all shapes and sizes are acceptable so don’t be too hard on yourself and feel like you have to fit into a certain category to be a model.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have been associated actively with many charities, that are dear to your heart, tell us how have you been able to achieve and quench your thirst of giving back to the society through this endeavor of yours?
Ms. Carmen Electra:
In the beginning when I first started building my career, it was quite chaotic and I had to focus mostly on myself to reach my goals. After a while, I started thinking that there must be more to this so I donated to hospice after the loss of my mom and started a charity with Ken Baker called Head to Hollywood for brain tumor survivors. I am also a part of Race to Erase MS, The Carousel Ball of Hope, and many more. Once you get yourself in the right position to help, I think it’s important to give back to others.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You have recently launched your own perfume. Tell us more about this new venture of yours.
Ms. Carmen Electra:
I’ve always wanted my own signature perfume because of my love for fragrances and how they make you feel. The company that partnered up with me gave me the freedom to design the bottle exactly the way I wanted it to look and be something that really stands out, almost like an art piece. They also helped me bring my dream to life by helping me combine my favorite scents. With notes of mandarin, peach, gardenia, amber, and caramel, it turned out to be something truly special to me.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
