Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to our inspiring and budding professional swimming girls who all are your fans, what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in the field of swimming ?
Ms. Brittany Elmslie: Don’t ever take yourself too seriously, you’ve got to be able to laugh at yourself. If you take everything to heart in a such a competitive environment you won’t last. Swimming because you love it and are passionate about, becoming a better you and never swim to please anyone.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: How did you feel after your memorable wins at 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona and where you won two silver medals in the 4x100m freestyle relay (heat swimmer) and the 4x200m freestyle relay?
Ms. Brittany Elmslie: It is always amazing to win a medal for your country, the feeling never changes. It’s what keeps me going during those early morning wake ups and pain I put my body through on a daily basis.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: It is known that you had fought back in competitions with sheer determination against all odds and returned to win. How you were able to overcome mental block when your are trailing and then reversed the final outcome of the race in your favor and what advice you can give to fellow swimmer person in a similar situation?
Ms. Brittany Elmslie: Over the years I have grown up both obviously physically but also mentally. I have developed the skill of focusing on my own race, you can’t control the outcome of anyone else’s race but your own. I use this self focus skill daily during training and life as sometimes it is very easy to get caught up in worrying about what other people are doing and saying.
