Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar had a candid interview with Ashley Dickerson, a leading fashion and glamour model where she talks about her workout, diet, and beauty secrets.

Namita Nayyar:

You are a stunning model. Introduce us to two memorable instances from your journey down the world of modeling? How did it begin?

Ashley Dickerson:

I started modeling when I was 19. I was discovered on a “scouting cruise” where models and agents could meet and interact over a course of 4 days. That is where I met my manager and got a contract with my first agency in Cape Town, South Africa! I lived there for four months just working and getting to know the city and the culture. I would have to say that was one of the most memorable times of my life and my career!

Namita Nayyar:

Having done numerous photo shoots. Five tips to prepare for a photo-shoot? Your say on body shaming?

Ashley Dickerson:

Working in Miami, I shoot a lot of swimwear so I really have to be in shape at all times and be consistent in everyday life. I don’t necessarily diet, I mainly just focus on eating nutritious foods and being consistent with working out! The day before a big photo shoot, I like to take a hot yoga or Pilates class, do my nails, and do a face mask. I also love drinking a detox tea for a few days until the shoot which really helps clean out my body makes me feel my best!

In terms of body shaming, I don’t think its right for anyone to tell someone else how they should look! I’m all for fitness and being healthy but everyone is made differently and with different body types. So whatever

Namita Nayyar:

A healthy breakfast for you includes? What do you like to have for dinner? Supplements essential for boosting immunity.

Ashley Dickerson:

My favourite thing to have for breakfast is Banana pancakes! I know it doesn’t sound very healthy, but they actually don’t have any flour in them. Only 2 eggs, 1 banana, and cinnamon. I usually drizzle them with a little agave and a side of fruit.

Being a pescatarian, I don’t eat any meat. So I love to make a pasta dish with shrimp and veggies! Another dinner go-to is a grilled shrimp salad with avocado.

I’ve never been a fan of consistently taking supplements. There are a lot of fruits that can naturally boost your immunity such as oranges and lemons that I like to incorporate into my diet rather than using supplements.

Share with us your workout routine. Five belly fat busters. According to you what is called upon for a flat tummy?

Ashley Dickerson:

I love a good HIIT workout! High intensity/ full body movements like burpees, mountain climbers and squat jumps seem to work the best for keeping me toned. I also like to mix in some yoga and Pilates!

For me, keeping a flat tummy comes down to my diet more than anything! But I like to throw in these 5 moves to really target the core!  1. Mountain Climbers 2.Plant Hip dips   3.Pikes 4.Bicycles 5. V-ups

An unforgettable experience from your first ever photoshoot.

Ashley Dickerson:

My first ever photo shoot was back home in Mississippi by a local photographer. She was the absolute sweetest and gave me so many tips and made me feel really comfortable. We were shooting natural shots to get my book started so I had NO makeup on, and wore denim jeans and a tank top. I just remember feeling so excited after the shoot and proud of myself for taking that first step in going after what I wanted.

Namita Nayyar:

Your morning beauty ritual before a shoot? Hair care routine that you follow after returning from work?

Ashley Dickerson:

I usually start by washing my face. I use the Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel. Sometimes I’ll put on an eye mask and start making my breakfast while I let it set. I’m obsessed with Rosehip Oil, I use the Teddie Organic Rosehip Oil all over my face and neck! It’s a great moisturizer and repairs damaged skin and fine lines. After that I apply sunscreen and chap stick.

Usually there is someone to do my hair and makeup at shoots, but if not, I’d move onto my makeup after applying the sunscreen!

Depending on the type of shoot and how dirty my hair gets, I’ll come home and wash my hair and apply a hair mask. But I don’t like to wash my hair every day, so I try not to unless I was shooting on the beach all day!

 Namita Nayyar:

After a long hard-working day, you like to relax with?

Ashley Dickerson:

I love to come home and relax in a bubble bath. This is something I’ve done my whole life, even in high school. I like lighting candles around the bath tub and reading a good book.

I also love curling up on the couch with a cup of tea – honey chamomile is my favourite!

Five fashion trends that you absolutely love.

Ashley Dickerson:

I would say my favourite fashion trend right now is that wearing sweatpants is now acceptable to wear out! I love an “Athleisure” outfit. I like to pair joggers with a cropped tee and either sneakers or strappy sandals.

Based in Miami, five reasons why you love it!

Ashley Dickerson:

I love Miami because it’s truly the best of both worlds! There’s a more relaxed, island life in Miami Beach, but then there’s the hustle and bustle of the city only 15 minutes away.

I live in South Beach, so I love how everything is within walking distance including the beach and the bay. The weather is beautiful all year long! I’ve never been one to like the cold, so Miami has the best winters.

I also love how many outdoor activities there are like going to the beach, walking on the boardwalk, playing volleyball, or even going for a bike ride. I recently started playing tennis and Miami Beach has one of the best tennis clubs in the country!

Lastly, explain to us why physical, mental & emotional fitness is so important to you?

Ashley Dickerson:

Overall health is so important to me because it not only helps me look my best but more importantly feel my best! When I exercise regularly and eat nutritious foods I notice I have so much more energy and allow me to be more productive, which has the biggest impact on my overall mood!
