Namita Nayyar:

Where were you born and had your early education? Equestrian vaulting is most often described as gymnastics and dance on horseback. You came in competitive Equestrian vaulting at the age of nine years and participated in the 2015 Youth World Championship Ermelo (Squad) Warnix and stood fourth. This later propelled your career to the height where you have been a leading equestrian vaulting athlete, presently ranked 47th in the world. Tell us more about your professional journey of exceptional hard work, tenacity, and endurance?

Annebeth Kubbe:

I am born in the Netherlands and started my vaulting career in the Netherlands. In 2014 (at age 14) I started my career in the elite sports. I did this with junior team the Netherlands. In 2017 I started my career as an individual vaulter. This year I moved to Denmark to have fully focused on the sports. It was hard to move on my own to another county, but I was determined to get the best out of me as an athlete. In 2021 I decided to move back to Holland. I grow as a person and an athlete. The coach that was coaching me in Denmark, had different ambitious then me, so I decided to find a new coach. In 2022 I ended 5th in the world cup final. In 2022. 2023 and 2024 I became Dutch champion.

Namita Nayyar:

While performing Equestrian vaulting where choreographing routines is an art form, it’s about finding a balance between showcasing strengths and creating a captivating performance. Elaborate?

Annebeth Kubbe:

I love this question. For me Equestrian vaulting is definitely a combination of art, showcasing and elite sports. Of course you need to be fit and strong to be able to do all the exercises you want. But Its all about making it smooth with your horse, dancing with your horse and balancing each other. The show part is really about telling your story inspiring people and making art.

Namita Nayyar:

You stood fourth in 2022 FEI World Cup Finals Leipzig that was held from 6th to 10th April 2022 at Leipzig Germany. How these events in your equestrian vaulting journey act as a catalyst in your metriotic rise as a leading equestrian vaulting athlete?

Annebeth Kubbe:

The world cup final was my first competition with my own horse Evermore R. The connection I have with him is so deep. Because of him and our connection I became a much better athlete.

Namita Nayyar:

You had memorable sporting achievements in your competitive Equestrian vaulting career as you became three times Dutch champion in this sport. Tell us your experience at these equestrian vaulting events and what you learned from it to move further in your sporting career.

Annebeth Kubbe:

I became more and more confident with myself. I learned how to be less hard with myself. Every year that I got to know myself better I became a better athlete. I also got better at choosing the team that felt good for me, this also made my performance getting better and better. Every competition made me stronger and wiser.

Namita Nayyar:

You have coaches like Jinte Pieriks and Lasse who have been a catalyst who helped you pave the way to rise in your career with discipline and a never stopping attitude. Elaborate about their influence on your professional sporting life?

Annebeth Kubbe:

Coaches are a difficult subject to be honest. As an athlete you are depending on your coach, so you can imagine that they do have a lot of influence. This makes every coach- athlete relationship difficult. There are not many coaches and it’s hard to find a good coach. Especially in the vaulting sport everybody is friends and a family in a way; what is beautiful, but also hard to keep the relationship professional. My lunger and coach Allan Laudrup was really good for my team, we are good friends but also professional at the times at ‘work’, we were good at communication. If think that is the way for good teamwork; we both let each other free, were compeletly honest and we were willing to do the work. With him I also had the most success.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Annebeth Kubbe:

In the gym I did most the exercises to get more strong and vaulting specific exerxises

Namita Nayyar:

How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.

Annebeth Kubbe:

Hihi nice question! How I train my abs? Well to be honest, I just use them a lot. Beside my vaulting and fitness training I ride my horse dressage (good for your abs).

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Annebeth Kubbe:

Food is a good topic for our sport. For me it has not always been easy to eat enough, we practice in tight clothes and our competition suits are also really slim. I always tried to eat healthy and did what felt good for my body. Since I got more confident with myself and got fully connected with my body I realized that I had to eat a lot more to be able to do all my trainings programs a 100% and without getting injured.

Namita Nayyar:

Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.

Annebeth Kubbe:

I don’t really know an answer to this, I love all food haha.

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.

Annebeth Kubbe:

My hair routine, I oil it every day and make sure i braid it for practice, so it doesn’t get stuck or pulled out. I have a hard time with my skincare routine, because of the horses, dust and sweat my skin is not as smooth as I wish for. I am pretty insecure about my skin, but I try to clean it before and after practice and every month get professional skin care to help me with it.

Namita Nayyar:

Building trust forms the core of vaulting athlete relationships with horses. Adapting to different horses for international competitions requires building trust swiftly. What is your unique strategy to build the near perfect connection with equine partners, Elaborate?

Annebeth Kubbe:

Since I vault with Evermore my way of looking at vaulting changed a lot. I know it’s a normal in the vaulting sports to share horses; this makes the vaulting sport very special and beautiful. But at the same time for me vaulting changed a lot since I was able to connect so deep with my horse and know each other so well that we didn’t not have to communicate by words or body language anymore; because of this I was able to vault fully in the flow.

Namita Nayyar:

Five athletic leisure brands you love to wear.

Annebeth Kubbe:

I don’t have specific one.

Namita Nayyar:

Five travel destinations on your wish list.

Annebeth Kubbe:

New Zealand definitely on the top of my list. I would also like to go to Australia, LA, USA and India

Namita Nayyar:

Quote you live by.

Annebeth Kubbe:

If you can dream it, you can do it

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about a day in the life of ‘Annebeth Kubbe’.

Annebeth Kubbe:

When I was an Athlete: training, school, training, sleep. Since August 2024 I changed my career to become a vaulting coach. I am coaching for the club HP in Belgium and in Holland I coach Sam Dos Santos (twice world champion). So now my day looks like: training the horses, going to the gym, work as a physiotherapist and after coaching my athletes.

Namita Nayyar:

During the Covid pandemic. Tell us more about your routine to remain fit in those challenging times?

Annebeth Kubbe:

At the time of Covid pandemic I lived in Denmark. In Denmark it has never been as locked down as in Holland. I worked and trained at that time at the same location. I was stable manager by a physiotherapy company. Because of my work with horses I could keep going with my job. At this job I had a private gym where I could keep practicing. Also by then I just got my own horse evermore. Because it was my own horse i was allowed to keep training and working with him. Long story short; for me the Covid Pandemic didn’t change my training routine.

Namita Nayyar:

In sports like Equestrian vaulting how were you able to overcome any physical or sports injury setbacks and what advice can you give to those in a similar situation.

Annebeth Kubbe:

Ohh that’s a difficult question and I cannot give a good answer to this; because my injuries never went away during my vaulting career… I just accepted the pain. But this is really bad advice, so I hope none of my vaulters are reading this and taking this as advice.

Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and the message for its visitors?

Annebeth Kubbe:

Believe in yourself, be determined and keep listening to yourself. Stay in touch with yourself, because your body has all the answers.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding Equestrian Vaulting girls, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of Equestrian Vaulting?

Annebeth Kubbe:

The vaulting sport is a beautiful place were your competitors become your friends and family! But unfortunately there are also multiple stories of coaches that misused their power. Because of the small community in the vaulting sport it’s hard to talk about it. I want to say to every athlete that if you feel dependent in anyway of your coach that you keep talking to your friends and family about how you feel. Always make your own decisions and follow your heart, it knows your way to your dreams.

Namita Nayyar:

A message for your ardent admirers on Instagram.

Annebeth Kubbe:

Thank you so much for reading my story, I hope you could use my advice and feel free to DM me for any questions.
