Namita Nayyar:
Introduce us to a day in your life, preparing for the Olympics.
Anne Line Gjersem:
I start the day with practice on the ice at 8 o’clock in the morning. The first practice focuses mostly on skating skills, choreography and spins.
The second practice on ice in the afternoon focuses on jumps and program run throughs. After two sessions on ice, I have a fitness workout or ballet.
I have one day off during the week for restitution, where I like to spend time with my boyfriend or friends. In addition to my training I study to become a civil engineer in information and communication science. Since my skating is my first priority, I only study half time and the schedule for classes changes quite often.
Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine that you may like to share?
Anne Line Gjersem:
Strength training is very important part of my fitness regime. My favorite weight lifting exercises is squats, hip thruster, step up and calf raise.
Furthermore, I like to do core exercises. When I train with my twin I enjoy doing partner exercises.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Anne Line Gjersem:
Remaining a healthy diet is significant in order to have enough energy to train and be physically fit. In general I make sure to have a balanced diet with all the nutrients needed for my body to stay fit and healthy.
