Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your Top 5 Tips to balance professional and private life?
Ms. Annabelle Knight: There really is only one tip to balance your work and professional life and that’s to take time for yourself. No matter who you are or what you do, you are the most important thing. You need to make sure that you’re mentally and emotionally healthy so you can best tackle all the other bits that life throws at you.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Today, stress has become one of the major contributors to broken relationships. What is your take on that? Also, what advice can you give for couples to cope up with stress?
Ms. Annabelle Knight: Stress is terribly difficult to deal with, however it’s easier when you realize that stress doesn’t actually exist. There’s no difference between anxiety and excitement physiologically, the only difference is how you personally perceive the situation. The old saying a problem shared is a problem halved is so true, talk about your feelings, issues and concerns. Nine times out of ten merely vocalizing what’s wrong makes the issue seem less unmanageable. Talking is the number one piece of advice I give to couples, it’s important to communicate and never make assumptions.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: Some mothers find it difficult to balance parent-child relationship and children seem to grow apart once they are teenagers. Provide some Useful Tips for parents to manage this issue?
Ms. Annabelle Knight: Teenagers are a terrifying specie. They’re full of hormones, which can make them unreasonable, irrational and a nightmare to be around. Parents need to give their teen the space they need. Developing at this point is difficult enough, so relieve some of the pressure by taking a step back. Make sure they know you’re there for them and always will be but give them the room to make some mistakes of their own to learn from. If I had a pound for every time my mum had said to me, ‘I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did.’ Then I’d be rich! But, the fact is that you don’t learn from other peoples mistakes, you learn from your own.
