Namita Nayyar:
Coming from a family of musicians, you started taking music lessons at the early age of 10. Tell us about your introduction to music and what do you love the most about it? Top 3 music videos.
Amy Rebecca:
My introduction to music came from my father’s side of the family. Every one of my cousins, uncles, and aunts knew how to play an instrument. They actually played a couple. It was a fun way for the family to get together and bond. What I love about it the most is that you don’t need words to explain how you feel or how to communicate with others. Specially, since some of my cousins didn’t speak English I was able to show them music and bond with them as well.
Top 3 music videos:
- El anillo – Jennifer Lopez
- In Da bank- Famous Dex
- Heroin Disco- Nick Monaco
Namita Nayyar:
In 2019, you relocated to New York City and parted ways with the classical music genre to pursue a more mainstream audience by producing and mixing music for festivals and special events. Why did you take this turn?
Amy Rebecca:
I took the turn of parting ways with classical music genre because I wanted something more exciting, livelier, and more challenging. Being able to produce and mix at festivals and events is being able to directly interact with the audience by enabling their favorite tunes. With classical music, you play what you feel within your soul. When you mix for an audience, you play what they feel and what their souls want you to play. I feel that it is less self-centered and more interactive with the world around you. Plus, who doesn’t love a great dance party?!

Namita Nayyar:
A gym fanatic, you became nationally qualified in bodybuilding at the age of 18 and that’s what kicked off your career in fitness modelling. How did you shift towards fitness from music?
Amy Rebecca:
Music activates the mind. With an activate mind, the body follows. Music enables movements, patterns, counts, that can have your body moving once you are in tuned with the song. I guess people call it dancing? Nevertheless, music can be a very personal hobby and so is fitness. You plug in your headphones and hit the gym leaving everything behind but your soul. Fitness you need to be able to have a strong mind, and to do music you need to have a strong body and core to perform for hours.
Music and Fitness are the only things that you can perfect and have ultimate control over. It takes the same discipline, focus, passion, time, and consistency to get better. So It goes hand on hand, except one is with the body and the other is with the mind. So it was an easy transition to go from one to the other.
Namita Nayyar:
In 2017, you competed and became the WBFF Beverly Hills overall champion and were awarded the PRO status in the bikini category. How do you feel about this incredible achievement?
Amy Rebecca:
When I won my PRO status at the WBFF Beverly Hills championship I honestly felt like I could do anything in the world. I felt grateful, beautiful, worth-some, and nevertheless humble. I signed up after my ex-boyfriend cheated on me, making me feel worthless. I didn’t know what to do with myself since I lost the sense of who I was. I trained for months and kept focus just to be able to feel empowered about having control of who I was… It translated into victory. Ever since then, it’s been nothing but hunger and ambition to push myself to the next step of the latter of success.
Namita Nayyar:
Before starting resistance training, what are the key points to keep in mind? 5 best triceps exercises.
Amy Rebecca:
Make sure to have a great meal prior to training, It is important to have enough energy to maximize the workout. Otherwise, it was a wasted one if you didn’t do it with your full potential.
5 Best Tricep exercises are:
- Rope Pull-downs
- Overhead dumbbell extensions
- Close grip bench press
- Cable tricep kickback
- Skull crushers
Namita Nayyar:
Tell us about your preparation for the WBFF World Championship 2019.
Amy Rebecca:
It has not been easy! I am in the last 4 weeks of a 22 week preparation. My weakness is stage presence and posing, so a lot of my focus has been in perfecting that area. I pretty much eat three meals a day with a snack or two. I have been traveling a lot as well so it has been quite the challenge. I carry my meals everywhere I go and track all the macronutrients that I eat outside of it.
Namita Nayyar:
What does your first meal of the day look like? 5 meal options to kick start the day?
Amy Rebecca:
Honestly, a bacon cheese chicken sandwich. I suggest anything that will help you start the day without making you feel tired.
- Carbs, fats, and protein balance.
- Egg whites, bacon, and whole wheat toast.
- Oatmeal, nut butter, and scoop of protein powder.
- Acai bowl
- Protein Pancakes
Namita Nayyar:
Do you advocate opting for cheat meals once a week? Cheat meals that you can’t resist?
Amy Rebecca:
I actually track macronutrients so there is no such thing as a cheat meal. Like Adriana Grande says “I want it, I got it”
Namita Nayyar:
Three components that are key essentials in your workout routine? How do you relax after a strenuous workout?
Amy Rebecca:
Focus– Always make sure you focus and have mind to muscle connection. Make every rep count!
Tempo– it is important that the negatives are timed as well instead of doing a rep super-fast. That’s how the muscle is built.
Recovery– always take 30 seconds to 90 seconds between each set. It helps the muscle recover.
Namita Nayyar:
Your favourite activewear brands are?
Amy Rebecca:
Currently, my favourite brand is Adidas. I just love their shoes and jumpsuits. I can wear it to the gym and outside the gym.
Namita Nayyar:
Define Women Fitness website for our viewers.
Amy Rebecca:
Women Fitness is a great source of information for women to be healthy and happy. It discusses topics and gives their audience new ideas on how to stay in tip top shape and live their best life with great overall health. I recommend every woman to read the page and the magazine if they aspire to live a long, healthy, and happy life.
Namita Nayyar:
Do you follow any skincare and hair care ritual, after a sweaty workout?
Amy Rebecca:
I always shower after workouts! I like to moisturize my skin with great lotion and face moisturizer after washing my face. I typically wash my hair every 2-3 days. My workouts are not super sweaty. I tend to make sure I stick 100% to my diet that way I don’t have to work as hard. Same results!
Namita Nayyar:
You have an incredible social media following on your account @theamyrebecca. What is the best and worst part about it?
Amy Rebecca:
The best part that it’s honest and relatable. I often find that the fitness industry is inspiriting, but also isolates itself from the others. I like to mix in traveling, music, comedy, and motivational content. There’s something for everyone and it’s not just fitness.
Namita Nayyar:
5 things we’ll always find in your gym bag?
Amy Rebecca:
Heels for posing, cell-phone, towel, headphones, and a snack 🙂
