Allison Holker is an exceptional professional dancer. She is an Emmy® nominated dancer and choreographer. She is most famously known from her appearances on the TV Show So You Think You Can Dance. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar, President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You started formal dance training at “The Dance Club” studio in Orem, Utah when you were nine years old and began teaching at the same studio when you were 16 and reached the pinnacle of success by winning in 2005, National Senior Outstanding Dancing for New York City Dance Alliance and in 2007, National Senior Dancer of the Year as a professional dancer. What factors do you consider were responsible that made you achieve that?
Ms. Allison Holker: I have worked hard ever since I was nine at achieving perfection. My parents have always said with whatever it is you choose to do, you become the best at it.
The way you become the best is by putting hours of work, passion and dedication to the test. I loved to dance so much that I would on an average dance for 5 hrs a day If not more. I was also in a circumstance that my family couldn’t afford to pay for my dancing, so that is why I started teaching at 16 and also cleaned the dance studio every night to pay for my own training. If you love something you must earn it, and once earned you will reap the benefits of pure happiness.
