Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your concept of “Lifestyle Coaching”?
Ms. Alexa Towersey: The importance of lifestyle choices is under-estimated. Poor nutrition, stress management, exposure to toxins, sleep and recovery are all vital components of a bigger picture. I am passionate about giving my clients the tools and the foundation for which to make better choices, both inside and outside of the gym, so that they can improve on their quality of life. It’s about time we learnt to have a positive relationship with food and exercise – if I can provide real-time and practical information, that people can integrate into their lives step by step so they can learn to take control of their minds, bodies and lives without it being a stressful experience, then that’s a huge bonus!
Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have worked with New Zealand’s world champion rugby team, the All Blacks. Tell us about this experience of yours ?
Ms. Alexa Towersey: When I was starting out in the industry, I was really fortunate to be given the opportunity to work in a pilates studio that catered to top level athletes including the All Blacks, who were using the training in their off season as a prehab measure, and for some of their injured players to correct structural imbalances and movement limitations. I gained such a wealth of information from being immersed in such a “hands on” environment where clients were really in tune with their own bodies. The whole experience prompted a huge fascination for me with the capabilities of the human body, and really prompted me to continue my education and my own individual training.
Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?
Ms. Alexa Towersey: The health and fitness industry is always evolving, so try and keep an open mind, and take the time to try new things and figure out what works for you. This is the best way to make sure that any of the goals you have, whether they be for weight loss, fat loss, sports performance or just general health and well being, are achieved quickly, safely and in a way that is sustainable for the rest of your life. There is no “quick fix”, or miracle pill – trust the process. Make good choices, eat clean, work hard and be patient with yourself. Create a lifestyle, not a fad.
