Aida Bauyrzhanova:
I guess I couldn’t even dream of a medal at the Asian Championship! But past 2 years I have started to win more and more in various competitions! The main goal for me to participate in the Asian Championship was different though – my main objective was to win a ticket to the Olympics! Mere 0.033 points didn’t let me get that chance.
However, I am definitely proud of my performance. I bet It has been the best one in my career so far! Judges have made their choice in favour for another gymnast. However it went, the medal of the Asian Championship 2024 is the first ever medal won by Kazakh women!

I am deeply thankful to my coach who was training me all the summer without a single break for herself! I was really ready for the competition, and even made my programme more complex! That’s why the result turned out to be so great! I believe this has been the best result in my career so far!
Namita Nayyar:
What in your career as a gymnast acted as a catalyst in your metriotic rise as a world leading artistic gymnast player?
Aida Bauyrzhanova:
I guess there were various factors involved but the most important one was that I believed in myself. The turning point was the quarantine. I re-evaluated my sports career, my dreams and goals, and made a plan how to achieve all of those.
Coming back to the gymnastics hall, I restarted my work, and the result was obvious straight away.
Namita Nayyar:
What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?
Aida Bauyrzhanova:
Artistic gymnastic is one of the most spectacular and difficult kinds of sports!
Gymnastics demands a lot of physical qualities. A gymnast has to be strong, flexible and well-coordinated. That’s why our training programme is peculiar but interesting. The most important ones for me are back exercises (hyperextensions), also we do exercises on various machines under supervision of our coach. But the main training spot is a gymnastics hall where we use various equipment – rope, stairs, bars
Namita Nayyar:
How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.
Aida Bauyrzhanova:
I guess I was lucky to be born this way! I was already a strong girl when I came first to gymnastics class! That’s why I never had any problems with abs exercises. In particular, those are various exercises using gymnastic stairs and series of planks with a timer. But I also like YouTube workout programmes! Some of them are definitely worthy to try!
Namita Nayyar:
Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?
Aida Bauyrzhanova:
When I was a teenager – at my 16-18 – I had some weight problems. Gymnasts must stay slim and light. But I couldn’t control my sugar intake – I really loved cakes! What I did first is I stopped weighing myself and stopped being obsessed about my weight. It helped me to start taking my diet easy. Every person is unique and it’s our job to find what works for us. What we should remember is that food is not our enemy; it’s our friend if we eat what we really need!
