Ms. Namita Nayyar: You’re a leading actress in both films & television and a super model. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Ms. Bar Paly: It is crazy sometimes, I will admit. In the past week I’ve worked in 3 different countries with 3 different time zones. Can you say Jet Lag? LOL! I’m not complaining though, I think in today’s fast paced world everyone is juggling a lot of responsibilities at once — be they work, school, or home related. My advice is simply to try your best.

Sometimes you succeed and sometimes not, and that’s OK. Success is not an overnight thing. Everyday you get a fresh 24 hours to get it right the next time. And remember, there is no shame in asking for help. Try and surround yourself with good people who love and support you and make sure to appreciate them. Oh and try to remember to eat right and get as much sleep as you can so you have enough energy to get it all done and can take advantage of everything life has to offer!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?

Ms. Bar Paly: I try to work out at least 3 times a week. I have a wonderful trainer named Brett Hoebel, who I met while trying to bulk up for my role in Pain & Gain. Yes, you heard right. I was asked to gain 20 lbs for that role! Sorina Luminata, the character I was playing, had a very different lifestyle than I do.

The film’s director, Michael Bay, felt that her physicality should reflect that. Brett taught me to work out with free-weights. As a woman, I always was afraid of weight training, thinking that it would make me look like body builder. The truth is that weight training is an excellent way to get toned up and shape the body. Girls, don’t be afraid of the free-weights!

I would recommend meeting with a trainer first to make sure you do each exercise correctly, and safely. A good trainer will also design a customized workout routine which you can do by yourself, no matter where you are. That’s the beauty of free weights, you don’t actually have to be in the gym with all the machines to work out. You just need a few different sized weights at you house and then presto!

You are out of excuses! When I travel, I take resistance bands with me. They’re light and easy to pack and I can do my same work out routine with them. Finally, for my core strength, I found that a weighted Hula Hoop is a great workout. It burns the tummy fat and is a lot of fun, it’s like being a kid again!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing? And secondly, what do you do to your hair to make it look so stunning?

Ms. Bar Paly: Thank you so much for the complement. I don’t take any supplements. I prefer to intake my vitamins the natural way, though a diverse diet. The best way to insure you do that is by making sure your daily menu is as colorful as possible. The different color fruits and vegetables provide different vitamins and nutrients, so a variety is important.

I also always put on sunblock even in the winter, to protect my skin from the sun damage. Today there are so many great self tanners and alternatives to sun tanning. My go to is St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse. I also make sure to exfoliate my skin a lot. Recently I found a great trick and started washing my face with a natural sea sponge. It’s naturally antibacterial without any harmful chemicals, and it’s gently exfoliates the skin to get rid of the dead skin cells and keep the skin smooth and glowing. For my hair I do a coconut oil mask. I use regular coconut oil that you can buy at any supermarket. It does wonders to the split ends and it smells like your on a vacation!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Recently you’ve had roles in Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain costarring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, in Non-Stop along side Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore, and as Lisette in Million Dollar Arm with John Hamm. Tell us about your experience of working in the US with the top Hollywood directors and co-stars?

Ms. Bar Paly: It’s a great privilege to work with such big names and talents. I feel blessed that I’ve been able to do that. I’m very grateful. Acting opposite great actors elevates my own performance. You always play up or down to the level of the competition. We are not actually competing with each other, as we’re all on the same team, its more like working with another brilliant actor actually makes it easier to be good. It’s harder to do well when the actor opposite you is inexperienced.

So on that level its been a dream. In the US, the scale of every production is so major that it’s truly a team effort. It’s important to appreciate and respect every one on the set, from the director and producer to the catering people and production assistants. We are all there to tell the same story to the audience. I find that generally every one on set truly loves the film business and the jobs they do in it.

I’ve been very lucky to be able to develop my characters down to the smallest details with fantastic directors like Michael Bay, Jaume Collet Serra, Craig Gillespie and Roman Coppola, which includes their amazing hair and makeup teams, and their brilliant costume designers. In the end, all those details add up to help you find the character and her behavior . I guess that’s what I love most about working on films of that scale. The ability to develop my characters with insights from the most talented people in the business.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are starring with Jon Hamm in Disney’s Million Dollar Arm in the role of Lisette. Tell us about this endeavor of yours?

Ms. Bar Paly: Well, I got to act against John Hamm and be directed by Craig Gillespie. I’m huge fan of both their work, so that was very exciting. I really loved being a part of this movie because it’s a comedy with such a wonderful, positive message. Million Dollar Arm is an inspirational true story about second chances. It’s a very relatable human story.

It’s about family, it’s about growing as a human being and about realizing what is important in life. It is about finding it within yourself to do things you didn’t know you were capable of. A film that’s a real mix of comedy and heart. The message of the movie is that even when you are up against the biggest obstacles you can find a way to break through and find success. Don’t miss it. It’s in theaters now! And if you want to see a much darker version of the American Dream check out Pain and Gain on DVD, or on demand at iTunes and Netflix.
